Do we really want to take Bale out of our attack and at the same time put our gayest player into our defence ?

We could also put VDV into Kaboul's slot, that would totally bamboozle them. And while we're at it, let's put Adebayor in goal.

It was for anything other than the last 4 games of the season I wouldn't be a fan, but we need to win, and I can't see his overall positioning being much different, if anything he'll be harder to mark and able to attack better from deep.

BAE has not played well the last few games, maybe that shoulder injury or something else.

But now Bale can play left back and stick on the left. Put Sandro and Parker in centre mid to cover for whe nhe goes bombing down the wing and we may just see the best of Bale for the last few games.

I hear you. I just think he's like a poor mans Ronaldo for us and I think he's a liability at the back. I'd rather he played as an attacker than a defender.

I guess my thinking is that I'm not bothered about Bale being a liability at the back for these 4 games. We're playing teams that are also needing to win, and will be leaving gaps. If we cover that with Parker/Sandro when Bale goes forward I don't think we'll be too compromised.

Me neither tbh. Naughton has managed to hold down a spot in the prem for most of the season. So, he's clearly PL quality and still young, like Walker.

Rose is still young though and if he can add defensively to his game he would be a very good squad option - he can play anywhere on the left if needs be etc...

I don't think now is the time to have Bale at left back. Our defence needs as much covering as possible as it is with two immobile centre backs and Bale's suspect defending means we'd need to play a central midfield of Parker-Sandro-Livermore. Also Bale is still such a goal threat for us and we don't have too many players who look like they can score at the moment.

I can understand the gist of your points re Bale at LB but we just lose too much going forward. Covering Rose when he takes off is all we should contemplate for the moment.

Run with me for a bit on this one.... I rekcon the above is worth putting a few hours into it in the pre season just to know if we have a legitimate option if needs arise next year. Same goes for a 3-4-3 with Kaboul-Caulker/Dawson-Bassong(or hopefully Vertonghen) at the back with Walker and Bale playing wide in the 4 - kind of like advanced wing backs but with the the remit to fly forward, with Parker dropping deep centrally to cover if need be. For shits and giggles we should also have a crack at the Bielsa 3-3-1-3 in training just to see what it can achieve for us. Tactical flexibility I like to call it... Harry reckons it's bollocks. I say why not, keeps it interesting for the players.... also a very quick way to work out who is intelligent enough to bestow more responsibility to within the squad.

BAE has played just about every game this season - so I'm not surprised this has happened. Injuries occur more often when you are run down.
