He's such a litter twat. That whole thing at the end was him having a go at Foden for no reason.

It was like the World Cup where he pulled out and everyone assumed something terrible had happened, Arsenal even made him their player of the month in solidarity....and then it turned out he'll was a massive dick who fell out with everyone and they bombed him out the squad hahaha

Looks like he wanted to single out and pick on the smallest man city player he could find. Coward.

I think you're speaking from a spurs-addled mind here. Arsenal could retain coherence the way we did not and that will be the thing that keeps them competing for a few years. Once you're competing at the very top, the margins are relatively fine. The idea they 'bottled' this is a handy mechanism for the likes of us that don't want to see them win anything. And to be sure, they 'bottled' last season's top 4 race too so they might have an issue to resolve.

But a cooler-headed review will certainly acknowledge they've far exceeded expectations this season, have a core of young talented players, and have a title in them because they achieved a really high level of consistency. And the reasons for achieving that high level haven't gone away.

They'll get over this, assuming there aren't any last ditch curve balls in the current title race, by realising the progress they've made and building on it. Whatever we reckon other teams need to do to to get up to their level, they have a little less to do to maintain it and possibly achieve a title. It certainly is daring to suggest we'll get the necessary work done to close the gaping points gap between us and them.

The signs look to be that Arteta has their full trust and is very capable. If they retain that coherence, they'll be competing again and could very well win a title.
Not sure I agree.

For the second consecutive season when the pressure is really on, this Arsenal team have just stopped playing. Not only that but their coach has looked clueless.

That's a big worry for them.

They've been fortunate with fixtures and the pathetic form of others and that momentum has carried them but once again as soon as the pressure is on they revert to being a meek team.

That isn't something easily overcome.

Its likely that as soon as they hit this pressure point they remembered last season and its had an effect.

Agreed. I think this is his third full season? If they fail to win anything next season (I don't think of that early FA cup triumph of speficic to the Arteta regime) the narrative around Arteta and Arsenal will mirror the Poch arc at Spurs; great team. Not winners.

Of course they could still win it and make mugs of us all, but a few weeks back weren’t The Athletic calling Arteta a ‘generational talent’?

When you look at it, a sequence of mid table - mid table - bottling a CL place and then bottling a title race is some Brendan Rodgers vibes

If they don't win it all, they will have another reference point which will only reinforce the new culture/ethos.

Maybe Arsenal's form hasn't dropped off, maybe this is true Arsenal and the rest of the season has been the anomaly.

I think this has some truth in it based on the fact they have conceded more goals in the league than Chelsea. A few weeks ago I was resigned to thinking they'd win the league because they'd come through a string of away games where it seemed like they'd score with their first or second shot every game.

Since the turn of the year they’ve played 17 league games and taken 32 points. That’s not title contender form - it’s ordinarily borderline Top 4 form. In addition they were knocked out of Europe in their first and only tie of 2023. Their FA Cup results don’t tell us anything because the first was a win away to a struggling League One team and the second was a defeat away to the best team in the country.

If they drop more points in their last 5 games then there’s a solid argument that the early season form and consistency was the anomaly, and that next season they will be among the favourites to finish in the Top 4 but a long way off the title.

I write this as I sit in a busy forecourt seating area working.

There's an Arsenal fan sitting at the table next to me, he's loud as fuck. His lunch buddy doesn't seem to be interested in football but he's humouring him by listening to the conversation anyway.

Oh, the Arsenal fan is constantly speaking with his mouth full as well, which is just a lovely noise altogether as well.

Quote 1: It's just so unfair. We've been the best team all season. Saliba getting injured is so unfair. We'd have smashed City last night with him at the back. City just kept the ball and or boring to watch. We're exciting.

Quote 2: United could finish ahead of us, 3 games in hand won't be shocked if we continue this crap run. Even Chelsea who are crap under Lampard could beat us now. Newcastle as well and we've to still play them.

Quote 3: City might lose at the weekend before they play Madrid, and we could be 5 points clear again, but I hope they beat United in the FA Cup final. 5 points clear but City still have 2 games in hand but you never know.

Quote 4: Liverpool and Newcastle and Chelsea will all be better next season and maybe Spurs but as well, it was a chance this season. But at least we got St Totteringham Day this year. That's a trophy in itself.

All within about 4 bites of his chicken fillet roll.
