Admittedly I don't know much about Partey and how good a player he is so little naive here... but considering they basically have the exact same squad that finished 8th in the league and have only added Willian and now seemingly Partey, are they that significantly better? Does he change them that much that they're a threat?
Especially since they've got rid of their good 2nd choice keeper (so will be low on depth in cups), plus are getting rid of Kolasinac, Guendouzi and Torreira?

Plus a very decent centre back

Don’t understand why Atletico aren’t trying to get him to sign a new deal

Didn't think they'll get him but fair play, somewhat saved their window - think they'll push top 4 at the expense of Utd and Chelsea, at least with Arteta it seems like they have a tactical plan and the players are buying into his ideas unlike Frank and OGS.

Interesting part in the Ornstein article saying that insiders did not think signing Partey would be possible with so few players sold in the window. Their fans can't fault the board for showing ambition if so, seems they have doubled down on last year's CL gamble. Let's hope they fall short again!

To be honest Arsenal's much clearer direction under Arteta as a whole worries me more than this particular signing. I still think their team needs work personally, but they seem to be moving in the right direction for sure. Like their prospects look better than United's with how they seem to be conducting themselves in really clearing out the rubbish and trying to address weak spots. Getting rid of Guendouzi because of his attitude even when many rated him and completely freezing out Ozil despite his stature and massive wages have been two respectable actions in particular for instance.

So why are Atletico happy to sell him? Or are they not and he just has a low release clause?

One year left on his contract I think? Unless I'm thinking of the wrong player that they are after.

100% the release clause. Hate to say it, but he’d fit them really well. More of an 8 than a 6, and definitely not a pure 6 like some are saying. Ball progressing, physicality, athletic and quick, solid defensively, a cracking (like really super good) long range striker of the ball. Experience in CL. At least they’re not getting Aouar, as it was him I really didn’t want them to get. Reminds me of a more athletic David Silva.

Absurdly bad PR move making the bloke who plays Gunnersaurus redundant.

What can he honestly cost them? Even if they were giving him £500 a match day - which I doubt - that's still basically bugger all over the course of a season.

Arsenal fans know the bloke in the suit is a lifelong diehard fan on a modest income who's been doing that role for the best part of 30 years. Many will remember him from going to Highbury as a kid.

Seriously poor form from the Arsenal board. What are they thinking.

Wait what do you mean? Are you saying Gunnarsauras isn’t real???

Does that mean chirpyyyy???? !!!!

And it has to be said, if you look at it in this way, if someone asked if you'd like to exchange our squad with Arsenal's, even with Partey it's a massive, easily said and very emphatic no, like, you don't even have to think about it. That's how much more talent I feel our squad has. Whether that will reflect on the pitch is another matter and is certainly not a foregone conclusion but I think our squad is a different level.

I agree he's doing a good job. Wouldn't it be a shame if City came in for him when Pep leaves at the end of the season?

Just been googling this and there were some amusing pics that he was posting on Twitter whilst in costume at home during the COVID lockdown. ??

The gooners really don’t have a clue or any class to them nowadays (because they did actually used to treat their staff well).

A bit like PEH but without the PL experience and 3x the price (or is he more box to box?)

This is how I evaluate him.
