Arteta is going to have to do similar to how Poch started. Arms round the shoulders of the ego players and slowly shape the first team without doing anything drastic.

Then in the summer hope he can get rid of the players he has identified as being a problem. Trouble is there might be too many.

We sold nine first team squad players the summer of 2015, and it had to be said we did alright for a few years after that. We were fortunate in that we had the talent waiting in the wings ready to take the places of those we sold, as only Toby was an instant hit after arriving that summer, Son and Trippier didn't contribute much that season. That is where I think Arsenal's big problem is, they have quite a few youngsters yes, but right now it doesn't look like they're quite good enough.

Which was a year after he took over. As I said, he didn’t do a huge amount straight away.

Yes, I was referencing your last paragraph about getting rid of players in the summer. It worked well for us, I'm not sure it will for them

Especially as Wenger practiced a wage parity policy that led to the likes of Jenkinson and other dross being paid absolute fortunes, only marginally less than their actual top players.

That is definitely a huge problem they have.

Huge wages meaning they struggle to sell, resulting in either losing Ramsey for free or paying Ozil a huge salary to stay.

Paying Ramsey a huge salary to stay and letting Ozil go on a free might have been a better course of action.

Ramsey was reportedly on something like 400k a week at Juve. Italy also changed their tax rules so higher tax earners pay no tax on 50% of their earnings.

No way could they have kept him.

I can't see Jurgen's Herta Berlin paying anything like that sort of wedge in €€€''s

They might have kept him if they'd offered him a contract before Juve showed interest, ie around the time Ozil got his bumper deal.

Thet absolutely chose to offer the bumper deal to the wrong player.

Possibly but I always get the feeling that the agents know about interest in their players so would have been happy to wait Ramsey our.

I think Goundeuzi and Ceballos will do better with Arteta. I also hope he will play Mustafi all the time after remembering how good he was in Valencia, awful player.
