I've got no problem with that - in terms of clubs - I'm not even sure how it would work anyway about a club taking an official line. Would they have to take a lead from the premier league?

I think clubs should remain apolitical, which clearly Arsenal haven’t done in this instance. Just have some blurb in their website stating that ‘any comments from club employees do not represent the views of this football club’ and stay quiet.

Yeah but Ozil's statement is potentially a lot more provocative, or inflammatory, than Bellerin's. Apart from the stupid inclusion of a "#fuckboris" hashtag, Bellerin was just urging people to vote.
Ozil is openly speaking about an issue that, even governments are treading lightly around.

Bellerin was taking sides politically, precisely what Arsenal said they do not endorse.

Governments are treading lightly around the issue for the same reason Arsenal distanced themselves from Ozil’s comments, because Chinese money means more than the human rights of a marginalised group who have no economic value. It doesn’t make it right.

Did he say #fuckboris?

Starting to warm to him.

While I do agree with you, I'm just kind of thinking that clubs can't comment on every statement (or tweet) that their players make.
I think that the reason they've chosen to do so with Ozil is purely because it's such a globally sensitive issue, whereas the world and his wife have been calling Boris names.
I'm not saying that their stance is correct, but I can understand why they've taken it.

I'd also back Ozil's statement over Bellerin's because the latter is opinion whereas the former is based on fact.

I can also see why they did it, but again, it doesn’t make it right.

Kind of says it all, when Arsenal made a statement that they probably shouldn't (have had to) make, yet China still reacts by pulling their game.
It makes the club statement even more futile and ridiculous.
This is why everyone pussyfoots around China, it's like dealing with children, powerful children!

Just waiting for Rose to say something similar and seeing how Levy responds.

I admire Ozil, it’s about the most useful thing he’s done in 3 years.l, although has he said anything about the Kurds I wonder?

Just seen that China have pulled live Arsenal games off state TV. That’s now going to hit Arse in the coffers.

Chinese state television has removed the Arsenal - Manchester City game from their schedule. Ozil raised concern over the inhumane treatment of muslims in China publicly

A lot of people will do anything to keep their pockets lined. Look at how many countries and people deal with Saudi Arabia etc

Fair play to Ozil.

Yep and to be fair to the bloke, his statement is doing exactly what he'd hoped. It's raising awareness of the issue, leading it to being discussed on places such as this.
The only problem being, no one will do anything about it and China will just keep doing what they want - same of plenty of other countries, such as the Arab states.
Politics and economics fucks up the world for the minorities.

“Ancelotti would be, right now, the perfect answer for Arsenal. It’s very rare to see a top manager like him getting fired in the middle of the season."

Well, actually, it isn't rare. Not even 'like him'. Ancelotti was fired at the end of September by Bayern and five of their players complained about him to the board, and he's just left Napoli with reports again stating there was a 'player mutiny' after their game with RB Salzburg.

So, sure, get him in at Arsenal!

Considering that his mate Erdogan was best man at his wedding, no I don't think so.
