This would make both teams weaker. Chelsea because they wouldn’t be able to replace him and Arsenal because, well, they’re signing Luiz.

Luiz and Mustafi together would be hilarious.

I’m ok with this happening.

Chelsea won't sign him without getting a replacement in; and regardless how terrible he is, he will upgrade a competitor. Nothing will happen here. But if there is a player more suited to this contemporary Arsenal team it is Luiz. What we should be looking out for is the movement featuring Iwobi and Zaha. These deals are related; Arsenal want to get a replacement agreed before selling Iwobi....

Luiz is one of those players at Chelsea that ruled the dressing room. No surprise Lampard wants him out.

Last season it was reported that Sarri was able to keep control of the dressing room since he kept playing David Luiz.

Good move by Lampard, once Luiz is gone, the other players will know who is in charge.

Should make the situation at Arsenal more interesting. Luiz should fit in well with that group.

I have a feeling this Arsenal transfer window is a bit of a last throw of the dice.

They’ve clearly spent more than £45m and they’ve also heavily loaded themselves with years of future payments to come.

To me it looks like they’ve targeted improvement by one place - ie they’re after Chelsea’s CL at all costs. They’re front loading massive expenditure now in the hope that it will get them CL football and that this will then cover those future costs.

If they miss out I think Emery goes and they are in serious danger of having to sell to buy in future.

Yep. They need to miss out this season. I’m convinced if they do it’s massively bad news for them.

The funny thing is, i don't actually think they've improved all that much, if at all.

I'm not worried for us especially. I just want Arsenal to be in a financial mess that leads them into the equivalent of our 90s period
Ah, I see. Yeah, Arsenal are probably in better shape (on the pitch) than either of them going into this season.

I do think that when that first NLD rolls around we need to be fielding both Son and Lucas with the instruction to run at the CBs every time they get the ball.
