I think it’s coz Foyth isn’t really a recognised RB and Auriers form last season was patchy and was blighted by injuries. On top of that most people thought Trippier was our worst performer yet still kept KWP and Aurier, when fit, out of the team

Considering all that I think it’s a fairly normal reaction to be a bit concerned about how it’s going to pan out at RB next season. You’re basically hoping that Foyth is a really good RB (even though he isn’t one) and Aurier Oman’s KWP to turn it around.

Personally speaking I wanted Aurier to have another year and I like KWP so I’m not shitting the bed but I can definitely see why some are worried.
I think Aurier was trusted in a lot of games but in others not so much because of his injury problems. He had a few poor performances last year and I do think he's a FB who needs regular games to showcase his best.

I think he'd have pushed Trippier to the back if he'd stayed fitter last year.

Yeah I actually understand that.

However I will say that if we signed another player this season there's no guarantees that he will hit the ground running or he will be a success, the last RB we bought who came with a reasonably big reputation still isn't first choice and the jury is still out on him.

It's the silly season regardless, signing make fans feel better totally ignoring the fact that these players need to settled and be coached in a role and the chances are that they'd struggle to settle in a Poch team in the first year anyway, we're better off with Foyth who is a player who the manager trusts and is used to the system and settled already.

This Foyth is not a natural RB thing reminds me of Summer 2015 when we couldn't get Morgan Schneiderlin and Poch put Dier as a holding mid, same thing - no one trusted him, people were mad a Levy for leaving a giant hole in the squad blah blah yet it turned out to be a masterstroke in the end.

Anyway Arsenal...

If KWP can kick on we’ve got nothing to worry about really as Aurier should be better after having a season to adjust and I think Foyth has demonstrated he is more than capable as a 3rd choice emergency cover (he might be more then that but more of a risk) the question is can KWP step up this year. Really hope he can, obviously.

And this time there isn't even a hole in the squad as we have 2 specialists and at least 3 other players who can "do a job" there.

Tbf, it’s well documented that Poch thinks Dier is a CB unlike Dier who sees himself as a DMF. Not to say he can’t play there but, ideally, we want a specialist.

Anyway, off topic.

I'm very curious to see how much patience the Arsenal fans give Emery this season. Last season was almost a free hit since it was the first post-Wenger one so he could almost do anything and in all fairness he took them to a European final and one point away from being in the top 4 so not bad. Will the fans give him time to do his thing or will they turn on him if things don't gel straight away.

Comparing transfer windows, if both of our main reported targets do materialise (Arse getting Pepe and Tierney, us getting GLC and Sess) then as it stands I'd say we edged the transfer window better than them (providing Eriksen stays). Ramsey will be a big loss for them and whilst Ceballos can kind of fill it, he's very much a stop gap one season replacement. Pepe is great and will help their attacking threat but that's not their biggest issue. Similarly whilst I think Tierney would be pretty good for them I'd still be more worried if they got a CB. I don't remember all of last season perfectly but I don't feel like they were losing games due to full backs. If they're losing Koscielny and not replacing him I think their defensive problems aren't really gonna be fixed.

They'll be in the top 6 I'd say (though Leciester are certainly knocking on the door more than the other teams) and Arse will certainly be challenging for top 4. I'd wanna say I think we'll be in there and that 4th spot will be between Arse, Chelsea and United.

Wait wait... just to confirm...

Both arsenal mens and ladies teams lost their emirates cup match??

So they arrange 2 matches.... 75% chance they will atleast come away with 1 trophy... and both teams choked at home against European opponents.

So what they will do next year? Mans Team vs Ladies. So arsenal will win the cup? :ROFLMAO:

I'm delighted that Arsenal have decided to spunk their transfer budget on Nicolas Pepe rather than his clearly superior compatriot Wilfried Zaha. :D

This is a football forum, not a cabinet meeting. If people want to be dismissive of Arsenal why on earth would that press your buttons? If that is the topic that makes you blow your top, then I envy you. I come into the Arsenal thread to laugh at them, not read page after page of detailed analysis. I don't care about all that.

So if I'm called childish or dillusional, so be it

The fact that he's thought about this, typed the tweet out, probably read over it a couple of times and still clicked Tweet makes it even funnier

I read somewhere today there were offers in for Mustafi which were being considered, seeing as Koscielny is supposedly off as well it’ll be great to see what pairing they have at CB come their first game.
Some clown on the bbc website even suggested that they were getting Toby in...??‍♂️

our french scouts....we paid 11 mill for GKN in Aug 2016
2 months before Pepe played in the french cup final v psg
Watford and Hull failed with a 7 mill bid that winter
and he went in summer of 2017 to Lille for 9 million
And to think we had clinton before that
