If Barca is requiring a buy-back there may still be room to get a deal done.

Loan for this season, buy option for fair amount (35-40M). Barca get a Buy Back option for 60-70M that expires 2026.
Don't love that. If he lives up to his full potential, he's a 100m+ player.

The thing is - Barca need cash and quick. I was reading earlier that Laporta and one of the other directors are personally guaranteeing finance with their own wealth. A paltry loan fee just wouldn't make sense for them if they're trying to raise serious cash before the end of the window.

We agreed a deal for Lenglet without the option so nothing would surprise me. His contract runs out in 2027 so they have time to sell.

Didn’t we sign Lenglet as a straight loan then it was changed to a loan with an option when there was more time to negotiate it. That could happen here too I guess?

Another thing about not having a buy option is that if he smashes it Barca will want double the fee

Thanks for the ITK @What Lies Beneath. I hope you're right about him being secured long term. It makes zero sense to bring in someone on a 12m loan unless we have an option to purchase at the end.

Sorry to be negative but this gives me whiffs of Gio Dos Santos. Another high profile wonderkid who looked like he had the world at his feet but preferred Faces on a Saturday night.

If he gets us back in Cl it'll have been worth the loan.

Then we should be able to go and get a suitable target going forward.

If this happens, experience suggests its because he's not at the top level anymore or because he's injured or both.

And it suggests a 'deal' rather than a good planned signing.

Nonetheless...if it happens...I suspect I'll be excited.
