A lot of interesting and disparate views. In my view AT offers infinitely more than Lennon and has a valuable place in the squad. He provides pace and directness that can be invaluable late on in games, as with Wham game, and more end product than Lennon (who is clearly his main competition in the squad)
He also seems to be one of the guys
who has really helped with the team spirit and cohesion (see Twitter banter with bobby), whic ish one of the things we have lacked for a few years.
So sure if we found a worldly left winger to come in and some one offers 10m lets take it, but until then don't see any point in shipping him out.

I don't subscribe to the idea that you can't improve decision making, and think he has done so in pre-season games. I want to see if Poch can work improve him over the next 6 months and will be rooting for the lad to step up.

Then you should become a football coach. You will be greater than fergie. As far as i know even top coaches like mourihno, lippi etc cannot coach a dumb player into an intelligent one.
That is why when we do youth scouting intelligence is one aspect we access.

Sadly, in theory he should have more end product than Lennon, but it turns out in practice he has yet to beat him on actual results.

Saintsweb itk:

I've been told that our final two deals are imminent and that will definitely be it as far as recruitment for this window. We seem very confident of getting these two done as we are no longer looking at alternative options. That makes me think that perhaps we MAY have moved on from Townsend to an alternative.

I don't have names unfortunately.

Townsend to Saints Morgan and Welbeck / Remy to us. I am completely fine with that.

Absolutely.

That would be amazing business and improve us significantly IMO.

If his dad has favored that tweet....pretty big hint something could be brewing.

#saintsfc legend @FrannyBenali believes Andros Townsend would be a perfect fit for the club - http://bit.ly/1tuhRwg pic.twitter.com/y50PUuuBsf

What makes this a little more interesting is that it was favorited by Troy Townsend.
I would like there to be something in this as I guess it could mean MS coming our way, but could he not have favourited it bc he likes the fact that a legend thinks his son is a perfect fit, and that makes him proud?

He could yeah.

But equally it may be because there's a possibility of it happening. And the fact it was tweeted in the first place may be to do with having some info on a possible deal.

Perhaps his dad likes his son being bigged up . . .

But yeah, I actually agree, his dad should know better as he'll know it'll get people talking

His Dad is a strange one I have seen him on twitter agreeing with TWEETS that slag off other SPURS players like when Ian Wright basically said Paulinho was useless.. He was also on a Podcast being less than complementary about Lennon and Rose.. Surely that does not help his Son seems to be seeking the limelight a bit in my view!!

Troy Townsend is a bit of a div. He wants what's best for his son, like all fathers, but he's a twat about it a lot of the time.

Whilst I've enjoyed the insight Troy Townsend has shared on The Fighting Cock podcast in the past, I can't help but think he's part of Andros' problem, rather than being a solution. I remember Troy scoffing at the fact that Iago Falque was being selected ahead of his son in the cup competitions. He sounded like your stereotypical loud mouth parent who stands on the touchline yelling and criticising other children for not passing to their little darling earlier.

I didnt like his opinion on his Sons team mates basically saying they were not top quality. I thought just concentrate on what Andros is doing because he still has a lot to do be classed as a top player...

Exactly. I think Townsend has potential but he needs to be less self-serving at times. His best performances have come when he's looked to provide assists to the strikers rather than go for goal at every opportunity.

No Townsend in the Squad.

Injured, just not selected, or off to a new club?

Interesting that he's not even in the squad. I suspect he'll most definitely be in high demand this week. Question is, what does Morrie consider as an upgrade? Massive week for the Argentine and Levy's relationship coming up ...COYS
