Need to be keeping hold of Rose and Townsend, they are some of the only club trained players (which we need) we have that can play at the highest levels.

Um, why would their training at our club mean that they will be successful at the highest level? If anything, the opposite is more likely to be true

In his defense, he really only started properly last season, and he started on some really good form, which then went into the national side - probably the outstanding performer in those last two qualifiers for England.

So he's lazy too eh!?! ;)

I think he is a bit old to be anything other than a 3 wonderstrike a season player. Not enough about the team and too much about personal glory with him

Pretty sure he'll play tonight. Be interesting to see if he actually has improved. Shooting, crossing, decision making ect has been an issue and despite his age I think he still looks quite raw. Hope to see an improvement

AT started on fire last season, got injured and struggled after. In that purple patch last year he looked a good player. Can a good coach get the best out of him, improve him and develop him into a team player? If so then we should keep him as he has the potential to win games

There is a European-competition quota - a certain amount of players in the squad have to have been developed at the club - not just HG, but specifically club trained.

Just heard the commentator mention yet another failed Townsend run. Sounds like he's having a 'mare.

Just really not sure if this boy is going to make it. He really seems to lack a footballing brain. Not sure whether to keep trying or cash in.

I agree but the implication in the original post was that being home grown made them of the highest quality. Now while I rave about our youth & new training ground, I firmly believe we are about 5-7 years behind Dortmund, Barca, Sporting etc...

I know. But that's the problem. Who else do we have? We need a certain number and Andros is one of the few we have that could potentially make it at the top level.

Still would bite their hands off at 10M. 12M would buy him a train ticket to Soton. 13.5M would buy him a First class train ticket to Soton. 15M would hire a limo and drive him myself.

This is absolutely bang on.

I really like Andros, comes across really well and he's Spurs through and through. We're all desperate for him to do well so its difficult to be too critical.

But these things are clouding judgement by the bucket load. He's not that young, in footballing terms, anymore. He's had plenty of game time and the most frustrating thing for me is he's still playing the same way. He still looks raw and his decision making is just so poor, I can't believe he's not been forced to correct this more. And if it is being worked upon he's not bringing it into match day situations.

Until I see evidence of some maturity in his play, that reflects an appreciation and awareness for team play being put above moments of individual brillance he will always frustrate me massively.

I look at Sterling and think he's vastly superior to Townsend, so much more mature in his play as well, and ultimately that's a big contributory factor as to why he's a lot more dangerous than Townsend.

Perhaps he's a lot easier to coach. Perhaps he simply listens and understands more in this respect.

Whatever the reasons he's got to start showing more. I'm not convinced though and its surprising because he comes across as a bright/articulate guy.

If a really good offer came in I would sell without hesitation. If he stays I really hope Poch's coaching can affect his game.

I posted this last Sunday and everything about his performance tonight is exactly what I, and some others, have been saying repeatedly.

He had a similar performance to Lamela's against WHam. It's the start of the season.

When Adereturned Andros starr

Difference being it was 10 v 10 when Townsend was playing against Wham. Where as Eric was compromised as soon as Naughton got sent off (11 v 10)
Lets be honest here he does not have a killer pass in his locker. I doubt you could coach that into him too. I think he's dead set into wanting to become Bale.
I blame the coaching he must not have got while coming through the ranks. The talent is there to see but far too late to make him into a player we want him to be. maybe going to another club where he will play every week for 90 mins would be better for his career.
