Honestly I’d take him, the guy wasn’t given a chance at all at palace. Absolutely no minutes at all.

I follow HLTCO on twitter who is a huge palace fan he thinks he was treated terribly. He also just kept posting his goals this year and Sorloth scored some unbelievable goals. Not my first choice but I’d take him.

I'm from South-East London, so a lot of my pals support Palace - all of them used to sulk and slate Roy about not giving Sorloth a shot

I watched this video after reading everyone’s comments expecting to see the modern embodiment of Rasiak.

You lot are nuts. Based on the fact that all we have to goon with any striker outside the top leagues is YouTube, who scored/ wiki/ transfermarkt, and maybe an accidentally caught CL or EL match, how can Daka (who looked great in his video) and Edouard be getting so much fawning but this guy gets panned?

Aside from his exceptional goal scoring record, he’s rapid for a very tall player, he’s a very composed finisher and he has good control, as well as his obvious thread in the air. You can see from this video exactly what Leipzig see in terms of replacing Erling. Yes, I’m aware it’s just a video, but do we really have any more info on him than on Dake, Edouard, Vinícius?

Yes, he flopped in a relegation fighting side when he signed in January. A closer look shows that, after signing, he played (all starts) an entire 4 matches, all losses, spread across 28 days, his first in this league, from mid February to mid March. Palace were 3 points above the relegation zone when he started his first match. He didn’t kick another ball that season after the fourth match.

173. That is how many minutes Sørloth had across the first half of the following season, across 12 matches, none starts, averaging 14 minutes a match. Only twice did he get more than 20 minutes, only once did he get half an hour or more. Then he went on loan to Belgium where he had a poor half season, confidence shot I imagine after a horrendous 2018.

So, if on the basis of that 2018 at the age of 22 you all want to condemn this potential signing, I would wager that you were all mighty shocked by Son’s turnaround for us and all want Ndombele sold too, as anything else would make you hypocrites and I know none of you are hypocrites.

If you’re judging him ok his time in Turkey, bravo. You’re not only managing to find the time to watch not even the top side in an obscure league without incentive, which suggests a great appetite for watching football, but you’re managing to see beyond the stats and realise some not obvious frailties in his game that aren’t apparent in either his goal record or in videos like the above.

Two paragraphs of continuous sarcasm is enough. All I’ll say is, I have no idea of this guy is good enough or not, but I don’t think any of you do either. But based on his recent record, his age, and the combined skill set that video shows him to have, I at least understand why we’re looking at him. What I don’t understand is why some of you are slitting you’re wrists over this link if the information you have is the same as the information I have.

Excellent read for me. You're a good man, @BringBack_leGin

SSN update on this:

Trabzonspor president Ahmet Agaoglu has said that Spurs are one of the sides interested in signing Sorloth, but it would be a complicated deal as the Norwegian is on loan from Crystal Palace with the Turkish club having an option to buy.

Sky Sports' Michael Bridge on Good Morning Transfers:

"It's a potentially confusing deal for Spurs. He's on a two-year loan deal at Trabzonspor. The deal has the option to buy for £5m if he plays 50 per cent of their games this season, but it looks like Trabzonspor will buy him regardless.

"He was a Golden Boot winner at Turkey and no one at Palace would've expected this form to happen. Earlier this summer, RB Leipzig were interested in signing him and that came as a real surprise.

"Trabzonsport can make the loan deal permanent and then they can negotiate with either Leipzig or Tottenham but it's also worth noting he hasn't returned to training for Trabzonspor since the international break. "This really has come out of the blue."

One advantage is that it sounds like we wouldn't be dealing with Palace, and thus getting rival tax etc. Just depends on how much Trabz would want as a quick profit.

Just seems that a lot of his goals are from good crosses picking him out in the box for him to head in from close range... do we really do that sort of thing enough to be confident he’d fit in with us?

Not a sexy signing but he is a huge target man that Jose will appreciate. From you tube he looks to be the player that Llorente was supposed to be. I think he'd be a different type of weapon to bring off the bench, which might be good for Jose's tactical options, but personally I hate "target man football".

Daka would have been my choice (a special talent), but I do understand why we seem to be targeting this bloke (Not least of which because he'll fit the budget.)

Agreed.

Based purely on the video he’s got a whiff of a young Dzeko about him, but quicker. If JM and those around him would be happy to bring him in then I would be too.

I was underwhelmed by the video. All those nice headed goals he simply will never score at Tottenham because we don't cross and when we do it's terrible.

Also should add he can play well in a two, as shown by his form with Haaland for Norway. Someone said he wouldn't have made a difference yesterday, but Kane had 3 partners across the match were he had to be the one trying to get the likes of Son and Lucas in, leaving him with nothing. I'd much rather see it get lumped up to Sorloth who can hold it of for Kane, so that he can actually get service in the right positions.

If we bring him in we absolutely have to sign a LB who can cross well.

Doherty woukd be okay on that other side as he's good at the cut back but yesterday really highlighted Davies' inefficiencies with crossing.

Need someone who can get more accuracy.

He defo looks like a Llorente type- albeit one that can actually run and jump.

Agreed on LB, Lucas Digne is another level to Davies based on the last 2 games we played them. Problem is Mourinho currently has us set up with Davies playing as more of a LCB than a true LB.

He was pants for palace, bit concerning.
Im not overly enthused by the prospect of signing him nor am I actually convinced Spurs have gone past the stage of holding an interest in him. However, to be fair to him, he was not given a fair crack at Crystal Palace and was clearly not trusted by Hodgson for no obvious reason. He’s gone to Turkey and proven Palace wrong. Good luck to him wherever he goes tbh. He’s earned the right to a big move.

He was but Kane was crap yesterday and that is about the amount of game time Sørloth got at Palace. I've not seen him at all but nobody can judge a player over almost zero football. I didn't realise how young he was when he went to Palace either.

I don't agree that our crossing is shit - Aurier isn't even a bad crosser, it's just that none of our attackers attack the ball from crosses with any sort of menace. Even Kane, most of his headed goals are him placing the ball with that big beautiful bonce, he very rarely attacks a cross with any vigour. I think that's something Jose wants, as it's been a problem for years imo.

Also, sign Reguilon - then we have a left back that can cross - both the ball, and the half-way line.

In fairness, he might not be inspiring but it is only a backup than we're looking for. Does he look more useful than Llorente? Yes. For me with striker the failure has been not getting one in before this run of games.

Imo, the money needs spending on players that would become guaranteed starters. Those players likely at LB, CM/CAM and possibly CB if somebody exceptional was available.
