Alan Hutton (born November 30, 1984 in Penilee, Glasgow) is a Scottish professional footballer currently playing for Scottish Premier League side Rangers and also the Scottish national team.

We've been linked with a £6m move for him in the press recently. From what i've see of him he look impressive. However I can only see us signing if we sell Pascal who's been linked with a move to Citeh.

I know lots of SC members are huge fans of Hutton. He does look good going forward, but I have doubts about him defensively.

This season he has 11 Yellow cards in 27 SPL & CL appearances. I've seen him make some very clumsy tackles - real shockers which would be automatic Reds south of the border.

Unless Ramos sees Chimbo as a LCB, or we're about to accept a £10 milllion offer for Pascal, I don't see any point in blowing £6-7 million on Hutton.

I don't think the market place has depressed in valuations since last season but I honestly can't see Chimbo going for more than we paid for him which pretty much means a straight swop, valuations wise to replce Chimbo for Hutton.

Then it's a case of who is the better player overall both for now and for the future.

Unless Ramos seems to think Chimbonda is more suited to centre back, or not good enough to be 1st team.
I feel the money has been wasted on a poaition that isnt that bad for us and the money could of been spent on a centre back.

Remember Gunther is supposed to be left footed and can play at LB. He is a Left footed right back.

Chimbonda might be sold to Chelsea then, maybe Ramos doesn't rate him, maybe Ramos doesn't rate any of the back four so is starting a rebuilding process starting at right back.
