Proven what though? Goal threat? Assist machine? Defensive stalwart? I mean he's a monster when the balls at his feet, but as soon as it leaves them it seems to be in the stands.

As I said in our ITK chat yesterday...... Based on what I know of him, if I had to mark him I think I'd just move right out of his way and get ready for the inevitable goal kick.

As has been said by others we have the players who can benefit immensely from the havoc he causes.

Going by his stats is rather amateurish.

"With that in mind, football.london understands that it's currently a case of signing Traore or a striker for Tottenham."

I could see that to be honest if we knew for a fact Kane wasn't going. Having Kane and Son and Scarlett is fine playing one up top. That only works though if you have enough quality to replace him out wide. If he goes though it certainly won't be enough.

Would be insanely negligent of paratici, Nuno and co. to sign this guy when we need more quality at CB, RB, DM, AM and ST. Seriously, we need players in half of the positions on the pitch, but we're wanting to bin £40m on this guy, who is fast, but has zero end product? Absolutely crazy, what are these guys watching?

Yep exactly, just make sure you mark his teammates as you know he is unlikely to finish the chance himself.

Which is actually what we did well yesterday, Traore often beat our fullback, drove into the box but what we did was mark the space in the box, where he inevitable cut it back to and we cleared. Do we think the opposition won't do the same with us...

I just think the way we are going about playing football and building our squad seems confused.

Are we really going for this one dimensional counter attacking style with no ball playing midfielders but just a battering ram pacey runner to carry the ball upfield, not for me.

I'm not a fan if this is the direction we are going, miles off the top 4 style of possession passing football.

Judging from the way he was chatting with his new Spurs mates at full time he is off. Done deal. He was, one on one notwithstanding, incredible. I’d be happy to pay a few quid a week to his wage tbh.
Just what we said, last off surrounded by spurs players n coaches n Nuno :(

A comment and reply from the wolves forum ?

I'd make the case that Chelsea is an extremely counter-attack-heavy team, and LFC, though they can play a possession-based style, are also at their best on the break.

There's definitely no "set style" that we need to play to get top 4. Yesterday was ugly but we absolutely pummelled city's "possession-based style" with front foot defending.

Interesting read generally but a lot of Wolves fans saying he was acting like he might be leaving at the end of the game yesterday

I noticed a moment very early in the game, ball had gone out of play near the benches and Traore was stood right in front of Nuno. They had a "bro" handshake, whilst the game was going on. There's clearly a lot of respect and admiration for each other.

I honestly think it's a case of familiarity breeding contempt.

If you compare the reactions to Romero and Gil relative unknowns then you will see the irrationality of it all.

Traore is proven in the prem and against us time and again.

Some people are picking on his weaknesses to fuel their agenda.

I’m interested in what you mean by this part in bold. I won’t ask you to name members of the forum, but curious as to whether or not you’re implying there is any possibility of users actually swaying transfer activity from these pages as, if not, any ‘agenda’ with regards to transfer talk on here is essentially redundant anyway.

But we are being linked to players in all of those positions? Tomiyasu, Nandez, Sarr, Aouar, Kessie, etc.

And again it looks like we are trying to offload payments on to next year. So surely we are planning on paying for players now too?

If we sign Traore and no-one else comes in then you have every right to be annoyed. But even if we sign Traore, a CM, a RB thrn I think that'll be an improvement. We were never going to plug all the holes this window unless Kane went for mega money.

Wolves accepted a pathetic deal for Jota with something like £4m up front. We all know how their transfers work so that Sky story is posturing and nothing more

A loan with option / obligation to buy would absolutely stink. It makes no sense for wolves to entertain such a deal so if it was accept (doubt it would be) then it's due to one man only and that would be a terrible terrible sign of how beholden they are to that agent.
He is a huge player for them so put yourselves in their shoes how on earth would such a deal make sense?!

Honestly - they sound a lot like many people here who over-value one of their own.

"Need to get the right price and the right players in with the money.
The right price is £60M"
"40m cannot be the price surely? Minimum 60m, absolute minimum the guy is totally unique."

"Levy is playing hard ball with Man City over Kanes price, I hope Jeff's got the balls to play him at his own game....its 80m so pay up or jog on."

"If he goes, the price we get for him isn’t as important as how we use the funds.
£60m in is irrelevant if we don’t use the money well."

If he could finish he'd be a £100m+ player.

He's built like a rugby winger and scares defences shitless. I'd love him in our attack options.

I mean people who don't want the signing are just looking at what he isn't good at, (understandably).

Because in return he will provide them with a new player or two plus 40 mill in the coffers I guess. The situation Wolves are in with Mendes is what we were all concerned about us getting into bed with, the feeling that perhaps this summer would be good but down the line we'd be in a situation similar to this.
