The question is: do you want us to sign Adama Traore? As many as are of that opinion say

It’s entirely possible that Chelsea in for Traore but equally I sometimes see it as an easy clickbaity type play by the papers/journos etc. They know we are rivals and that it’s been done before so it’s as easy win to get interest from the public, clicks, reads and comments.

It should be easy to convince him to come here over Chelsea if he wants game time. He will likely be our main RWB playing games where as at Chelsea he is a stop gap until they get some players back, going by what was said at the Chelsea press conference.

Feels like we’re going to drag this deal so far, to the point where we over hype the signing & his ability, primarily based on being relieved.

This line of posting always sounds like the poster knows better than the people doing the scouting/medical assessments/tactical analysis. I mean there could be some truth in it, you could very much be a tactical genius/physiotherapist/space cowboy.

But to me, there's just an underlying arrogance in this tone of "I know better"; it's what irks me.

There's no arrogance or claiming to know better.

There is nothing wrong with scrutinising our current recruitment considering our recent track record.

I remember people saying that Ndombele was wildy inconsistent even at Lyon, and as good as he was in the CL agaimst City, he went missing in ligue 1 games often. Anyway as you say, hindsight and all that.

Absolutely nowhere near. Just googled it and the backs cover about 7km a match and most of that is whilst walking or jogging. You make an excellent point - he'll have to trim down significantly to last as a RWB for 90 minutes.

As I suspected. Rugby is more stop start than football is and the backs don't run as much

It can all be a bit frustrating, when you see Villa for instance, potential interest in Coutinho, less than a week later he's signed. Interest in Digne, few days later £25m fee agreed. A big part of me wants to say fucking typical Tottenham in dragging this out but I can still only critique our window in general once it's over and not all clubs situations and respective transfers have the same obstacles to overcome.

Hopefully this can get done soon so we only have to worry about the two remaining positions.

Not sure why anyone thought this would get done before the last couple days of the window? Will probably happen on deadline day.

at this point it looks like we will eventually sign him, probably late in the window.

However this month we are playing Chelsea 3 times and a pivotal NLD that could be the difference between top4 and no top 4.

Whatever the reason for the delay, whether fee, wages, agents etc I hope its worth missing these 4 games and the extra weeks AT doesn’t get acclimatised to his new environment and understanding what Conte expects of him.

Given that the difference between finishing in 4th and finishing 5th is approx £70m plus all the other intangibles that comes with being a “champions league club”, haggling over the fee (if that is indeed what is happening?), seem especially stupid and short sighted.

Everyone knew when 1 January was hapenning - its the day after 31 December.

Mainly because unlike the summer Wolves actually seem keen to sell this time and he also seems to be our top RWB target this window.

ITK suggesting its the player/Mendes stalling.

would you put it past chelsea to fake an interest to hold up the deal until after we have played them they are the most underhand club in the world when it comes to transfers.

He would be perfect for Sunday thinking about it (not that we'll get him by then).

Noisy stadium, both teams going at it, him coming on and pretty much having a free hit in his first game, arsenal not really knowing how he'd attack in our setup.

Think it's pretty obvious this will happen when Bergwijn is sold.

We operate on a sell-to-buy policy. Always have under Levy/ENIC, always will.

I don't think it's financially driven as in we need the fee to do the signing as we replaced lamela by swapping him and money but I do agree we don't like having players being paid to not be in the squad and fully expect him to sign shortly after bergwijn or doherty leave.

We just keep passing left to right and right to left. We got no one wanting to make a run and take on players.

The thing about Traore is he does not pass. Our teams problem is we lack penetration. With Traore we got one player that will not pass once he gets the ball, he will run with it .

Might help to open up defence for us . Gil tries to do something similar but he is too easily knock off the ball. Traore is not that easy to knock off the ball.
Lucas ?
