Our squad looks great. A lot of depth compared to other squads, considering that Bale, Dos Santos, Sandro and Walker didn't need to be named.

You can have less than 8 - you just have to name a smaller squad.

The rule is actually that a club can name a squad of up to 25 not including U-21s, 17 of which may not be homegrown. That's where the 8 homegrown came from. But you don't actually have to name 8 homegrown players.

I think this is the biggest shocker for me. Given how much money they have it's a very poor looking squad in terms of depth. None of their U21 players apart from Sturridge have any real premier league experience.

With the 4 bold players currently out injured that's them down to a squad of 15 + Sturridge, which isn't even enough to put out 11 and a sub bench of 7.

Given that 1 of that 15 is a GK, that gives them only 4 spare outfield players that are currently fit. That really shows a massive lack in depth to me.
