If we sign him and Diallo (I'd even take Deeney if it meant getting Skriniar or Dias) I'm going to be so pissed off at having nothing to be pissed off at.

Well, if we’re being idealistic, an additional CM capable of playing the holding role would be nice..... just to have something else to hang out for.

Great news for Škriniar, bad for a striker search.

Because Škriniar is awesome CB and we are in talks with him. Also we need another striker and it looks like it won't be Weghorst or Milik and we are getting same old "nobody wants to join because of Kane" like last season.

Can I just say how great it is to see a poster actually spell 'Škriniar' as it should be, with the caron above the 'S'.

Too many Dier critics and not enough diacritics in this thread IMO.

Reckon Levy is recognising that, even thought he hates spending, covid has created a unique market and it makes sense to capitalise on this now while we can. This way we can set up the squad for the next few years, rather than just trying to fix it gradually once the market has become more competitive again and we've missed out on CL due to our leaky defence. In effect, we're saving money by spending money.

If we get a top quality CB and a half decent backup ST, suddenly our squad looks very impressive indeed and shouldn't need too much surgery at all in future windows. A better DM, creative midfielder and another RB would be nice, but there would no longer be any gaping holes to fix and genuine quality in practically every position.

This is exactly what’s happening. We’ve got less money but more than many others so it makes sense to capitalise before the market normalises.

If SC has a pun of the year competition then this should be on the short list. Very well done. ?

Is Valencia Yid still ITK? He says we are going all out for a CB, CM and a ST over on TFC.

Pretty sure he is. Didn't know they had moved forums though. Something has definitely happed behind the scenes if so, has to be something to do with Birch's appointment IMHO.

He said Poch was on borrowed time and that Jose was the preferred option if I recall correctly and has definitely called stuff in the past.

I do genuinely hope this is accurate because if we do bring in quality players in those 3 positions we are essentially capable of challenging for everything and have real strength and depth.

Our 2 latest directors are specialists in m&a’s and football takeovers respectively. There’s clearly either an investor going to be taken in or there is a takeover in the works. The hires we’ve made point to a takeover.

It’s not really telling us anything we don’t already know though is it. We’ve already been told we want a striker, a centre half and a midfielder.

We’ve also got Ally Gold telling us we are in talks for Škriniar.

I expect things to be fairly quiet for the next week or so then things will ramp up towards deadline day.

Even with those the league is unrealistic this year unless Bale hits form straight away. It would be 8 signings in one window and that doesn't always mean instant success as a team takes time to develop and get used to each other but I think a cup is realistic.

Whilst I certainly agree with that, and wpuld be surprised if we really pushed for the title. I do believe that say signing Bale, Reguilon, Skriniar and a decent midfield option wpuld boost the squad massively - we'd see an injection of positivity. Also it would drive those who have been stagnating to push on more. Kane, Son, Lloris would all be enthused and believe more too.

If people believe Chelsea can mount a title challenge after their injection then we certainly can, especially with Jose at the helm.

Still, it needs to happen first before I really get excited.

Levy's investing in the future. Giving Jose the tools before second wave of Corona bites football in the ass. Keep investing, Daniel. Make those moves. Get those fax machines whirring!
