Different times - back then I guess it was ignored, not that it makes it acceptable but at least people now are showing more awareness and justified outrage towards racism.
Casual racism, xenophobia, anti-semitism is very much okay in society if sponsors of organizations dont pull out or the person is well liked. Very sad but unfortunately, it’s true. This would have been forgotten in a day if people didnt scream and sponsors didnt pull out.
AFTV has done more than the NFL to combat this stuff(albeit after a sponsor pulled out).

I think something like this was always going to happen. A bunch of deranged idiots in a room getting vexed at football, it was a matter of time before one of them let something slip.
I find AFTV funny, but mostly because I like to laugh at the state of Arsenal, however if it was Tottenham TV I'd want it banned because it really hurts the club and the club's community.
What Claude said was dumb and they had to take action, the fact that they only took action after sponsors pulled out tells you everything about Robbie - it's all about money. I'm sure if the racist comment was about black people it would have been different though. Im not trying to get into a dispute or upset anyone, there are plenty of occasions where someone has said something borderline racist, transphobic or xenophobic on that channel and Robbie has let it slide.
And what about Troopz? "Harry Kane is white, he's always right" a clear remark made about someone's skin colour yet they'll do nothing about that because the pressure won't be there to do anything. And that remark was recognised by every one at the time because some laughed. Disgusting.
What happened to zero tolerance?

I actually didn't know the context of the DVD comment, didn't know exactly what was said and the first I'd heard about any of it was when watching the apology video. Now I've just seen the video of him saying it and how stupid could Claude or Robbie be to deny that? There's literally no room to interpret that any differently to the offensive way in which it was meant.
I don't wish bad on the guy but I'm glad this sort of 'casual racism' is being picked up on too.

DVD’ is a derogatory slur aimed at Asian people, which depicts them as someone who sells illegal DVDs.

I remember sitting in pubs across London when I was in my early to mid twenties and the Chinese guys would come in with bags of pirated DVDs.
I suppose you have to be of a certain age to get the reference; anyone under 30 probably won't understand it.

They tried to side step saying that the dvd comment was about us bringing a dvd out of the 2-1 win, which was absolutely pathetic. It was only when Sponsors threatened to pull out they axed Claude.

I know Twitter is a cesspit of morons as it is, but the comments under Robbie's statement, shrugging off racism as if it's no big deal, are disgusting. Casual racism towards Asians is too often condoned as something that "isn't a big deal" or "just a joke". It really, really fucks me off.
