Understand why Jose started with Winks and especially Sissoko but was surprised he didn’t get any minutes at all after what Jose said before the game. If he doesn’t play at all vs West Ham I will be very worried

I think he was a victim of the balance of the game. When youre defending a lead he's not the player you want to bring on to add solidity and defensive discipline. Gedson and Lo Celso were better options at the time.

Then when we go 1-1, its difficult as we have already replaced the usual suspects of Lamela and Bergwijn to bring on tanguy, had we been chasing id suspect ndombele would have been on instead of Gedson. Jose was never gonna risk the solidity of sissoko and winks.

Personally id have risked taking Kane off for tanguy but I can understand why jose didnt take off his star striker when he needs a goal. I just didnt see Kane having the legs to make it happen personally.

Well we went with Son up top towards the end anyway with Kane dropping off so he could have come on in central attacking midfield.
I would have liked him just to get out there for his mindset more than anything. I just feel like not playing him tonight is going to knock his morale even more.

That's the problem in a nutshell. Especially for a club with our motto

Depends, if jose has put an arm 2 metres from being around his shoulder and said, look I need you to make the difference tuesday then that works fine.

That doesn't really make any sense considering tonights game was more important

You gotta start to think that if he ever does succeed here it’ll be under a different manager.

I just don’t see how we can go from now where Jose clearly doesn’t trust him to do anything to a point where he totally trusts him. It’s obviously possible but there comes a point where he needs a run of games. Tbh, this season is a write off for me at this point so I’d just treat these last 8 games as a pre season for him.

I’ve not lost all hope him thriving under Mourinho but I’m not holding my breath.

I actually thought it would have been perfect for him to come on. United were chasing the game so they were playing a higher line which meant space to exploit behind. Imagine if we'd had Son running in behind and the best passer at the club coming on to play him in? Might well have been able to get a second goal. And one of the reasons we miss Dembele so much was because he retained the ball so well when teams tried to press him - Ndombele has shown flashes of an ability to do that as well so when United were going for the high press in the second half he could have made sure we kept possession and even carved out some chances to go 2-0 up.

Your point about Kane illustrates a wider issue that I've raised before - Kane has too much power at Spurs. Klopp will substitute Salah, Pep will substitute Aguero, but Kane never gets substituted here even when he's having a shocker like he was yesterday. Even if we went for Gedson instead of Ndombele as the first sub, we should certainly have taken off Kane for Ndombele and pushed him into an advanced role.

United have been able to carve out so many chances in their past few games because they have such good passers in the side - some of the balls that Fernandes and Pogba were playing were absolutely ridiculous. With Eriksen gone, the only player in our squad who can do that is Ndombele...but for some reason he is not only being left out of the side but our manager is specifically saying that he has "nothing" on the bench. It reminds me of when AVB complained about losing Modric but then also got rid of Van Der Vaart, Huddlestone and Kranjcar to replace them with Dempsey, Dembele and Paulinho, then started wondering why we had lost all of our creativity and ability to move the ball around - the only player we had that actually did fit that mould was Sigurdsson who didn't use enough and when he did then he stuck him out wide instead of playing him in the hole behind the striker where he would have flourished. The football was boring as shit back then and it's been boring as shit this season.

If Ndombele doesn't start against West Ham I think we can conclude that he isn't going to be here next season, which given Alli's return then I think that's unlikely. And that's a terrible shame, because the guy looks like one of the most naturally gifted talents we've had in midfield for a long while.

Yeah I'm just looking at it from Jose perspective that he isn't the player to bring on if Jose wants that defensive discipline but I was in the same mind as you, I don't trust Spurs defenders to hold out for 90 minutes and I think it's only worked for us once since Jose came in (against City). I'd have much preferred bringing Ndombele on to alleviate pressure and keep them honest by being able to play on the counter.

I am also concerned about Ndombele getting in but I'm analysing it and I think we might see Lo Celso in and then I don't see Jose daring to drop anybody else and as you say Dele is a Jose Favourite. If Jose wants to play with the solid midfield then I'd suggest dropping 1 of the front 3 considering we don't attack enough to utilise their skills for Ndombele and Swapping Lamela/Lo Celso. Obviously I'd prefer one of Sissoko/Winks to be dropped and go with a midfield trio of Ndombele/Gio +1 and then the front 3 we had vs United but I just don't see it happening.

GLC I agree as an option, but I'm still not sure what Gedson brings to the team.

Iv'e always thought it would be a problem intergrating him and Lo Celso into the same team, would love to know what Poch had in mind when he signed both of them.
