Can’t really fault him at the moment. He’s been almost perfect in press conferences, even aiming a dig at the Chelsea support - and the results have been good. I wish he’d stop lying about it not being about him though..... what other manager says ‘it’s my 80th win in the CL’ without being asked by the journos ?

He loves the publicity so much. The Amazon thing is perfect for him. I didn’t like the fact they were filming this season but it actually may make Jose even better because he loves playing up to the camera so much. Not a criticism, just an observation. He often says in a thousand words what other managers say in a hundred.

With that said, he does seem a bit different this time around in terms of his character and long may that continue. It might just be excitement that will wear off but it also might be because he can’t believe how big this club actually is now he’s here and he’s really looking forward to the challenge. Let’s hope he’s learned from his mistakes at Man Utd. Always hated when he called a player out or blamed the board etc. If he can cut that out when things go a bit sour, which they probably will at some point, then I think the fans will really take to him and he could become a legend here if and when he wins something ?

He had me at ‘huge pillows’.
He is very good at turning 5 words in to 500.
Very much our Bob Dylan. Haha

Very impressed so far with Jose, has got things pretty well spot on.

- the early change tonight was so refreshing.
- clearly some stern words at half time, a different team came out second half.
- the ball boy thing.
- the Dele sub, I think JM wanted him to have his ovation tonight (which he joined in with), another bit of the rebuild of Dele.

was also nice that so many fans stuck around in the ground until the very end tonight - wonder how many like me were hoping Jose would give us a bit of a clap and wave!

Very nice seeing the early tactical change and the presser after... If Dier + Winks start against Bournemouth though it's all moot

Not really. He explained why he made the sub after the match. I wouldn’t be surprised to see them both start again, Dier especially.

He did say he thought he should of rotated slightly though so Winks may well drop out.

One thing that I suspect will be overlooked was him saying afterwards that he may of got things wrong and should of rotated slightly with hindsight. It’s understandable he needs to get to know the players and what they can and can’t do physically.

I can’t remember him coming out that many times in the past and admitting he made a mistake.

One thing we need to remember about Jose is he is the best at palming off blame, especially for himself and the players. The only time I’ve seen him question players was at United, and those were individuals and not the collective and honestly it was deserved they played absolutely shocking football after he lost the dressing room due to the Pogba issue.

The refs, the pitch, the weather, etc are always the culprits when he talks to the press but it was very refreshing to see him admit he may have made a mistake. Old Jose would never consider shouldering the blame in front of the press.

Jose deserves a lot of credit already. Imagine it's only been a week.

He has some major decisions to make as well as set a few things clear.

However I think one of the hardest jobs will be to make the players believe they're the best again. Don't fear anybody and install the winning mentality in our club. We seem so weak and afraid with zero confidence.

We saw yesterday, that even a team from Greece can hurt us, as West Ham did just opposite timeframes.

I know it's early days, but that will be a big task imo. The players just doesn't seem to possess it. We might need to bring in more winners who Jose trust.

I was not over happy when Mourinho was appointed, but I have been very impressed how he has conducted himself and his attitude towards the players over the last week. His handling of the Dier substitution last night was very human and sensible.

I hope he continues with this attitude, it will bode well for us over the coming months.

Yeah I noticed that and liked it too. I think with confidence low he wants to keep changes to a minimum so that the players have the best chance of improving their form and confidence together. He'll be very pleased to see the way all of the subs played last night however. Even Ndombele had a good 10 minute cameo completing 4/4 take ons.

He's trying to keep things simple right now and it's 100% the way to go. It's clear Jose really wants to make this work at Spurs and so far so very good.

Everything he says is so calculated. Agree 100% he wants to keep changes to a minimum initially to help grow confidence and also he's barely had time to train with the squad. But by saying that perhaps he should have rotated, he's setting the scene for this weekend when he can rotate in other players he wants to bring in without those who get dropped feeling upset or taking it personally. Players who didn't convince yesterday - Winks and Moura for example - may well be on the bench on Saturday with Ndombele and Eriksen/Lo Celso on in their place.

Only gripes thus far is the lack of minutes for Ndombele and Lo Celso.

Jose is finding his best 11 and along the way someone will miss out. Doesn't mean he is purposely snubbing them. Fitness may also be a contributing factor to who he chooses to start. Dont read anything into it. (y)
