I genuinely believe that this is the perfect time to appoint José Mourinho. With the stadium, training centre and squad as it is, everything is in place for a man of his stature. He has spoke about not coming to us in the past, but I don’t think it would have worked back then anyway. We’re ready now. I have no doubt that Levy has always wanted this and I’m sure there will be money available for some quality players. I’m thankful to Poch for everything he done but feel real excitement about the future and seeing how it unfolds. COYS!

I know a lot of it might be for the camera, but I love those training videos.

Mourinho just walks around with such a big manager swagger.

He’ll make it all about him and it could just be what the players need. I remember reading early on in the season that the players were struggling with the pressure of playing after the CL Final. He’ll take that pressure off them going into games straight away and put it on his own shoulders. It’s why players at his previous clubs have loved him. I’ve a feeling that will suit ours too. We don’t have a team of massive egos. That’s got to be a plus for him.

Nice to have an articulate, charismatic manager again. I loved Poch for what he did for the club, but I never paid the slightest attention to anything he said.

Mourinho is captivating. Love him or loathe him.
Definitely this. As much as I loved Poch, everything he said just sounded like a bunch of words, and I felt like he gave the same answer to every question. Mourinho, on the other hand, is captivating. He knows exactly what he's going to say, and he delievers it with patos and authority. He really is a natural leader, and I can't even begin to imagine how motivating it must be for the players to get the opportunity to work with him.

Just watching the Coaches Voice interview on YouTube with him talking about his career. The very interesting part is the Inter job. A lot of parallels. He talks about using a high press too, older central defenders etc Colour me excited now.

I was thinking earlier about his stint at Inter, perhaps the epitome of a Mourinho team, good mix of experience and youth etc. To replicate something like that..

Was a while ago of course.

And I remember Manchester United fans getting giddy at him turning them into Inter mk2 a few years ago and, well...

But I must admit to be fucking excited ?

I also like that he'll probably bite back if they start asking stupid questions in post match interviews.

Reporter: "do you think you can keep hold of the like of Son, Harry Kane in the summ..."

Jose: "do you think you can go fuck yourself?"

I'm buzzing off this and cannot wait for Saturday.
I've even changed my avatar accordingly, I'm fully behind Jose.

He clearly has had a soft spot for us for a while. Wont be a shock if he spends more time here than Poch did.
He and his family obviously like London so he might want to spend longer than usual here and then finish by managing Portugal.

If he's the devil or not it will be seen.
But I agree Levy has destroyed the work we've done this years with this appointment.
Mourinho is the complete opposite of what we've been building.
We may win an FA Cup but I don't see a prosperous future for the club with Mourinho.
I feel it as a short term move to win anything at all cost

No offence but I think that's nonsense. Levy has building us to a position where we can attract a manager like Mourinho. This is the culmination of what Levy has been building. Even if its only a short term thing who cares as long we are successful? Hes pretty unlikely to leave us in a worse on field position than we are in now. You don't see a prosperous future? He's hardly going to ruin us - this appointment, whether it works out or not, shows that we are now a major force in world football.

I think many Mourinho myths have been presented on SC over the last weeks and many of them were bullshit.
Mourinho would never join Tottenham, it's too small of a club
Mourinho would never join Tottenham, he needs plenty of cash for players
Mourinho would never join Tottenham, he would demand too much salary
Mourinho would never join Tottenham, he couldn't work with Levy
Mourinho would never join Tottenham, because here is some bullshit pulled out of an arse

And now, the predominant myth is "the football will be so bad, I hate that Mourinho football".
I say to you, we don't actually KNOW that. Yes I remember a few matches in the past in which he did play very slow, defence heavy. I think even Mourinho himself would say that's true.
But I think it is wrong to categorically say that the football will be bad with this Tottenham team. Before we know more about how he thinks he has evolved as a manager, we can't actually reach any conclusion.

What I am looking forward to is better tactics and less possession just for the sake of it. In the past, Mourinho liked his teams to exploit errors in the opponent, and I hope to see that.
What an embarrassing post. I’ve spoken with you about this and made very clear what the objections were and yet you keep parroting this wild claims for likes. Very dishonest.

The fact that José is referring to Tottenham Hotspur as 'us' because he's part of us, makes me feel like I'm in a dream.

Honestly can't believe we've got him. Its a fantastic appointment.

Interesting that he was quite hands on in the training video; he's a proper coach. Also his little interactions with the players, touching their heads etc. He had a moment with Alli where he was obviously giving him some praise.

Dont know if anyone else clocked it, when going up to Tanganga he turns to one of the other coaches and says 'he marked Ronaldo'. Little things like that will make the players feel ten feet tall and shows he has been watching us since pre season in depth.

Another thing that’s probably already been said but I’ll say it again. We have arrived at Mourinho as our manager on our own terms. We didn’t have a shiekh or an oil baron and we aren’t yet an Uber club. Yet here we are with a manager who is delighted to be here that has won 20 major trophies and a number 9 that will, under his tutelage and started by our previous legend, will become the best we have had in our history. That’s still as romantic to me. We punched over our weight and now we have managed to get ourselves in a position to be the heavyweight without the shortcuts.
