Or maybe just tempers the unrealistic expectations?

How does losing a very winnable game against an average team, on penalties, with key players dropped, "temper unrealistic expectations"? Is expecting to win this game in some way unrealistic? Is expecting progress in the easiest cup competition to win beyond the first round we play in unrealistic? Not for me.

I'd say if we'd played against an actually good side and been outplayed then I'd agree. My expectations game to game haven't changed because of this, it's just a shitty and incredibly avoidable result

Terrible team selection, it was an atrocious performance.

Fulham hit 4 of their penalties in exactly the same place and Forster just fell over.

And I'm not just saying it now, but Sanchez was never scoring that penalty, I said it as soon as I saw him walk up.

Big week ahead, criminal we aren't bringing a CF in but need to clear some of the shite and see what happens.

This is all on Ange. Forster is what he is and Sanchez at least had the balls to take a pen.

Ange threw the game by rotating the entire team like we're still in pre season. With no Europe it's unacceptable.

If anything he should have fielded an unchanged side as this team should keep building chemistry.

I just don’t get why every manager continues to take the piss with it.
Levy clearly doesn’t give a shit 🤷🏼‍♂️

No pressure whatsoever to win a trophy, and no Spurs manager is ever going to be sacked for doing shit in the cups as long as they don't completely bomb the league.

I don't care of we get drawn against Bishop Stortford Under 16s D team in the 3rd round of the FA Cup. Ange had better play our very very very best side or they'll be hell to pay!
Lol my son played them last year on the longest pitch I’ve ever seen. It was two pitches combined.

cant imagine dier in a high line on a pitch that long

Poor performance, worse result.

But it's all a work in progress, and hopefully at the very least this may make it clearer for Ange who is able to fit and work in this system. No doubt some need to be shipped out by Friday, and a couple in would be great.

Poo.

Changes were fine imo but this is where those 2-3 players we need would make a difference, depth still not quite where we need it to be especially in attacking areas, RW & ST desperately needed and another CB & CM if GLC or PEH go.

The changes were fine in your opinion because you overrate the players that filled in.

For the sake of fuck!!!

I thought we were supposed to be giving Ange time?
This was the chance for him to learn about his squad in a proper game situation and while yes, I too thought we made too many changes, I can also see why he may have made the decisions that he did.

He'll have learnt a lot from tonight but it appears as though some of our fans have learnt nothing.
Give the man some time, we're not an overnight fix.

I see everyone is being very patient with our new manager and the rebuild like they said they would 😂

Didn't take long lol.

In all fairness, for whatever reason , he probably made too many changes.

I was happy when I saw the team so I can't complain too much about the selection.

But the performance levels were so poor tonight.

It was a bad night at the office from just about everybody.

So whilst its easy to be critical of the selection, I don't think Ange saw this coming.

He strikes me as the type to learn very quickly though, and I don't think he'll do similar in the FA Cup.

And it might just of made our minds up on certain individuals tonight....silver lining and all that.

Fulham also made five changes, so I'm guessing if they'd lost the penalty shootout they'd also have pissed away the chance of a trophy?

It's rotation - you will see it from every single PL team - and it's penalties. It happens. Did we rotate too many? Maybe. How else is he going to see what works?

Let the pant wetting commence. Seriously worried about a lot of people in here.
Incredible ,new manager 4 competitive games in ,has a first 11 of which 8/9 are quality and rotates to look at rest and the children throw the toys out when they let him and us down. Luckily I believe Ange is going do things his way ,lost a couple of games at Celtic before it clicked so nothing unusual.

Well, all those players, who did start today, would like to start at Turf Moor. Why didn‘t they show it in the first half. Don‘t blame the manager, blame the players.

Too many key players out in Romero, Bissouma, Bentancur and Maddison. We really do rely so much on them. The whole flow is off without them. Its just another tragic display with many changes. I don't really agree with it but I think Ange had to learn from it tonight. We shouldn't really make that many changes without Europe though. Just keep working on the core group and drill that system. Hopefully next season we can start to rotate a lot better if we're in Europe.

I'm not sure it's we rely on them too much but more too many changes. U
So far Ange subs have had impact because he change 3 or 4 players and they slot in. However, 9 changes meant there was no cohesion in the team. We only needed to make 5 changes max. Those players have rarely played together in the new system compared to the subs bench
