Was there any more context to that?

Bit of a strange way to word it (see my post in the ENIC thread).

Valencia has been saying all summer we will spend money because Levy is desperate to get back into CL. The inference here I suspect is that CL qualification may have avoided this Kane scenario.

My concern here is that Levy is personally handling the Kane transfer.

If it was Paratici I’d have a lot more confidence.

I think the biggest question that needs answering on the Kane saga right now is....... Which ex pro has Simon Jordan schooled on how things work in the real world this morning?

Why? Paratici might have sold him for, let's say, £125m.. At least imo a very underwhelming fee. Levy will get an astronomical fee or it won't happen and rightly so with 3 years left on his contract.

Of course he is. With that money at stake, no way he is letting anyone else deal with it.

To be fair to Levy, this is where you'd rather have him than not have him. However could be really scuppering Paratici's plans.

Yeah but the £25m or whatever extra from the Kane transfer isn't cost-free. It costs time, instability, dwindling options for incoming replacements, more expensive incoming replacements, more soap-opera media scrutiny, less time to integrate replacements, etc etc.

For me, sitting at home as a passive spectator, I say fuck them and fuck Kane and count pennies to the very end. But if I was making these decisions I'd have to factor into my calculations that just because it would be in City's interest it doesn't mean blocking that is by default in our interest.

It's an unfair fight really:
- One is an intelligent, thoughtful individual with life experience
- the other is an ex-football

I think if £125m was our best offer, we should downright refuse to sell and just keep Kane. He'll still be worth £100m or more next summer anyway so it's just not worth it.

What would annoy me was if City offered, say, £150m now and we then spent 10 days haggling over an extra £10m before selling him last minute for £160m and the delay cost us the likes of Vlahovic, etc.

£125m with time to reinvest it in a depressed market is worth more than £125m next summer (and make no mistake - if we don’t get £150m for Kane now, then we never will. He’ll be knocking 30 with two years left on his contract, and hopefully not injured)

I think the vast majority of the fans would be fuming if we get bullied by Man. City of all clubs and sell him for £125m, I certainly would. Especially in a summer in which vastly inferior players like Grealish and Lukaku went for £100m.

There are so many who we are told to watch that I don't know where to look anymore. I have neck pains.

Not being difficult but is there any evidence of it being a ‘depressed market’? People keep saying it but I’m not seeing any evidence of it being the case. What deals have there been that reflect this?

We’ll see how it plays out next week, but the market doesn’t seem all that depressed. Things may yet change when clubs realize they actually do need money but… so far reported prices (for our targets anyway) just seem to be going up.

There’s definitely more than a couple strikers out there. If we can’t get neither vlahovic or Martinez. It won’t be the end of the world as per some people’s comments on here are alluding to.
