If plans are in place they must have been in place for a while as Kane deal could have been completed any time. Fingers crossed our targets and their selling clubs hold on for us! Encouraging that Vlahovic and Martinez haven’t signed contracts and their clubs haven’t accepted bids yet. Hoping Fab’s good connections are helping here as I don’t think they would wait for Levy!

With other striker deals looking harder and harder to get over the line I wouldn't be surprised to see this go down to the wire on deadline day and we end up with Kane going for £150m+ to City but because we have little time to sort a striker out ourselves we taken Jesus on loan for the season.

I love the fact that people will just ignore the ITK that plans are in place for transfers and trot out (or even copy and paste) whatever they said last time/window/year because they’re much happier if they can say “I told you so” than “I’m sure it’s in hand”

And history is just that - no guarantee of a repeat, and we have Don Fabio in charge which is different from last time.

But, you know, do your own things guys…

on a bit of anti levy stuff: Dont worry too much…as soon as Levy has an acceptable bid for the club he will be off…and thats another reason why CL qualification and on field success is so important to Levy…
on kane replacements/time running out: Plans are in place….the Kane game will finish playing out, which is imminent.
so that means kane is staying?: I wouldnt bet on it….

This is the bit I hope comes to fruition. We need this resolved and fast.

I want to believe in Paratici but I am concerned how we'll spend the money. Some of the alternative striker targets being mooted (with Vlahovic and Martinez looking ropey) are thoroughly underwhelming when you consider who they will be replacing.

I'm personally comfortable with deals going down to deadline day as long as we get the players that we need & want.

Vlahovic, Lauturo are still the only strikers with reasonable links and if Kane is going, which is what VY is suggesting, then we need 2 to come in.

Obviously links can come out of nowhere but I kinda had my heart set on those 2.

This a concern of mine too.... And why I really want HK to stay, regardless of what has happened.

We really need a ST to hit the ground running, not just to score goals but provide, to a degree, like HK does.

With the rumoured players we are linked with, I think a serious bedding in period would be needed

Don't do it to yourself dude.

Relax, ride the train, see who we get.

One out of Vlahovic and Lautaro is the maximum and I would be really surprised and happy at the same time if we land one. Can not see it personally.
A second striker surely is just more of a squad filler, so the way for Scarlett and /or Parrott isn't completely closed the next three years.

We've had two 'sagas' this summer, first the manager hunt, and now Kane. Can't wait until it's over and done with.

Manger hunt seems to have had a positive ending (early doors), hopefully Kane will be gone sharpish.

^Geez, can't wait to sign Damiao on loan when we have no other options on deadline day.
Geez I can't wait untill next Summer when this Summer, and all other previous windows are completely ignored as people travel back in time to over a decade ago, in order to moan about stuff they don't know anything about.

Cool - can I dig out my old shellsuit and…

Nope, it’s no good, I’m so old I can’t remember what was the height of fashion a decade ago. Was it perms? Crocs? Tie dye?

I guess the fact he has 3 years left on his contract his protectial earnings with City are c£33m, now whilst that for the likes of me and most to live confortably on for the rest of my life footballers are a strange breed. I suspect he will remain a City Player for the next 3 years but be on loan to a Spanish Club who will pick up some of his wages.

This is the problem with the likes of City/Chelsea/United they put players on such a massive wage when they want them gone its almost impossible to move them.
Also seems to be a problem for us this summer - making it difficult for us to move on Ndombele, Sissoko & Aurier (who are all on high wages in relation to their current roles in the squad).

Please dont let this end up with Kane leaving and us not getting either of Vlahovic or Martinez.

Was there any more context to that?

Bit of a strange way to word it (see my post in the ENIC thread).

I’m not convinced that we need to spend HUGE on a striker.
I think someone with the right attitude is going to be a better fit than someone who has loads of stats.

It also matters how we are coached and how we play as a team. Even with Kane in the side we have looked toothless and bereft of ideas. Hopefully that won’t be the case anymore.

I don’t think it’s any technical issue we have to overcome. I think it’s the style of play and making sure everyone is committed to the cause.

Plus, I cannot be arsed anymore with these big signings that end up being a bit of a letdown and subsequently rinse us of wages and squad space when we can’t shift them on.

Based on the information from ITKs there are a lot of clubs out there looking at their Covid enhanced debt mountain, then their likely revenue for the season and their wage bill. The obvious way to close any shortfall is to move players off the wage bill and ideally pick up some cash from a transfer fee. The natural thing to do early in the window is to try and move on players you don't believe you need particularly if they're on big wages. As we approach the deadline desperation levels get higher and they start to consider letting some of the 'family silver' go.
Deadline day could be carnage with some surprising deals with players being sold/loaned out even to Premier League clubs we'd expect to be battling relegation.
