This is why it’s so disappointing that we took so long to appoint a new manager. We needed someone to be working on revamping the squad last season and at a minimum before pre season started. To have only signed 2 players one of which is a back of goalkeeper is an actual joke if you ask me.

Yes, there’s no doubt that taking until the start of July to appoint someone has compounded our issues tbf.

We were essentially managerless for nearly 3 months, which is absurd.

Hard watch. Dele has no place as a CM totally clueless, Skipp getting an introduction to the big step up. Doherty and Reggive not great passing outlets. SB and Moura just not doing enough and probably never will. To close out Dier needed to do much better on the goal.

Don't start with the 'it's just a preseason friendly'.

It's the penultimate preseason friendly, we're less than ten days out from the start of the season (where we play the champions) and the squad is a complete and total shambles on and off the pitch. It's not an overreaction to be more than a little alarmed.

What makes you think Tomisysu will come in and hit the ground running? He will need time to adapt.
GLC and Ndombele need to get fit first and see what happens to be honest because they haven’t got long left to prove themselves before they are shown the door imo.
Going to be very much a transitional season with a lot of ins and outs and most of the ins seem to be coming from abroad so will need time to settle
Of course they will need time to adapt but it's not like it's set in stone and we have to put up with this bunch for the entire season.

Considering the managerial farce and the Euros, we were always going to be behind this season. So if we have a slow start but finish the season strongly because we get in the right players, I don't think anyone will complain too much.

Few thoughts.. Dier’s ability to play out from the back is fucking shocking, every time he plays out we end up under pressure because he can’t carry the ball and when he gets pressed he gives it up to someone in a bad position as in his mind it’s better to pass the buck, shocking.

Doherty is absolute dog shit. Honestly if you watch him and think there’s any chance he can play at this level you should put the blunt down!

Bergwijn tries but he really is very average, he has no burst of pace to beat a man or a trick/quick feet either. He’s no better than Townsend tbh.

Dele is out of position, he gets a pass here, not his fault.

The irony is that if we were playing Chelsea off the park and looking amazing everyone on here would be saying we were gonna win the league...

...and it would still be just as meaningless.

Feckin heck.

We were never going to address all our shortcomings in one window.

I've already accepted that this season is more than likely a transitional one, loads of ins and outs needed, in fact, I'd suggest that if we did hypothetically manage to add players in all the areas that need addressing in this window, there's every chance that with so many changes that the football would suffer in any case as the playing relationships, new surroundings etc take time to adapt to.

Painful rebuild is exactly that.

Looked like what it is, Champions league team vs Conference league team. Dier and Tanganga definitely not a partnership, but then I have no understanding why Dier is still at the club, nowhere near good enough. Moura having one of those games where it all goes wrong, which he does all to often. Dele in the middle is a disaster, struggling badly and nowhere near enthusiastic enough working back. Doherty has no business near our starting 11 and Son struggling to play the main striker role v a very good Rudiger.
If anything this will confirm the upgrades that are urgently required, ASAP.

The sad reality is we don't need to spend 100's of millions of pounds on massively expensive players. We need to better scout for players that can come in an improve the starting 11. Whether they cost £5 million or £50 million isn't the point, they need to be the right players for us.

There will be hundreds of players just waiting to be discovered and given a chance if only we had a scouting department to find them before our rivals do.
