Yeah I mean my personal opinion is that the reason we get so hooked into things is because we humans crave the storytelling aspect of it and the journalistic (if you can call it that) approach to these transfers really caters towards that. They don't make money giving us the information, they make money with the narrative as you rightly said and they really feed off of our anxiety the closer the deadline day gets.
Exactly. We enjoy the jeopardy and the suspense so keep watching. We’re hard wired for it. That‘s why we ‘like’ it and news outlets play into that because it generates clicks and eyeballs.

Yeah they've really cracked how to take advantage of our noggins much like the more recent offering of videogames.

Getting to the point where I feel Its not going to happen is it. As disappointing as that will be and easy as it will be to blame Daniel Levy for this transfer not happening to be fair if Inter have a price tag for him of £45 million + and they are refusing to budge on it then given the current financial climate cant really blame Daniel from walking away from this deal. Getting to a point as well where a striker and shifting some players is more important than a new centre back. As much as I was crying out for a centre back the other week the truth is we do have four centre backs who on paper would walk into most Premier league teams starting line ups.
Disagree. Levy knows if that a decent, acceptable bid goes in now Inter will reject it because they know there is ample time to increase the bid. The final, likely-to-be-accepted bid will go in about 48 hours before deadline. It’ll get done for £40M rising to £45M in my opinion.

I'm not so sure here. I get the impression a rough deal was thrashed out last week and everyone is looking to get their ducks in a row before pulling the trigger on it all. For example Inter want the Fiorentina CB and Fiorentina seem to be in the market for a replacement now. Meanwhile we are also looking to raise funds by selling fringe players.

ITKs still seem confident and most journos seem to be suggesting further talks will happen. GDS are probably just speculating as things have gone quiet.

To be honest, I think we're just waiting to get through the Europa League tie before formally bidding. The EL Group Stages is allegedly worth £15m to the club so I wonder if Levy is just waiting to bank on some guaranteed income before committing to the signing

That makes sense and is probably a factor, as is the fact that being out of Europa League would mean much less travelling and a lot fewer games, so perhaps if price wasn't right/players weren't offloaded the decision might be made to go through the season with what we have in defence - a defence which isn't bad at all, but clearly would be better with Skriniar in it.

I mean I think it's been obviously unlikely to happen for a while now. The price tag is just too much and we don't have the money on us at the moment.

#thfc are now increasingly unlikely to sign Milan Škriniar. The club only want to pay €30M plus bonuses whilst Inter Milan continue to demand €50M for his sale. [Gazzetta dello Sport]

Is it possible to get a crying emoji rating please?

My gut feeling is this won't get done.

Nothing to do with pessimism, just doesn't 'feel' like its going to go in our favour.

My gut feelings are pretty accurate by the way.

I think this is almost the dictionary definition of pessimism with an attached example.

After signing Doherty, Hart, Hojberg, Regulion and Bale then I'd imagine Levy would leave a couple of deals still going on up until deadline day because he just loves it so id imagine Skriniar and the back up striker will rumble on for a week.

The tea leaves all day the same thing. We dont have the money. Unless Inter decides to accept a player in return as well, this is not happening.

Not at all.

I'm just taking in to account everything we've read and heard in here, and all the other circumstances.

Dont ask me to list them all, because I won't. All the factors are there for all to make their own opinion.

I was just joking around but I hope you're wrong!

The tough one about this transfer is looking at our CB list, it's really decent already - TA, ED, DS, and JT and you could argue that all four of those deserve matches this season. Signing Skriniar would make it a tad crowded in there, however even last night when Dier was on the floor for a minute, I was thinking that makes us pretty short for options at CB.

I think it's safe to say that MS has potential to be the best of the crop in current ability. It also would be planning a bit for the future as I'm not sure how long Toby will stay in his new deal, can definitely see him being here this year then being moved on for a fee while we can still get one. Next season I think we'd be just as strong with the other four CBs mentioned.
