Like all the big club signings we did during the years we were in the CL
Last season, we spent a huge amount of money. Unfortunately only 1/2 (Bergwijn and maybe Lo Celso, although I'd argue he's only been alright given the amount we invested in him) out of 6 of those players has worked out so far - the other four have all been disappointing, and Ndombele especially so of course. We're not the type of club which can just forget about that and sign another bunch of big-money players instead, especially with Covid and no CL - we've made our bed, and until we can move them on we've got to lie in it and make the best of them. In another year or two when hopefully Covid is gone, Ndombele is either good or gone and the stadium is printing us money again it'll be a different matter, especially if we're back in the CL. Until then we've got to buy smart rather than big as the ITK suggests - and given our record when we have tried to go big maybe that's no bad thing.

Surely Pirlo and Juve are perfect for him!

Juve have the money and Pirlo might be the perfect Manager for TN given there relative talents. Can just imagine him saying "they called me lazy too"

I hope your right, I’m just a bit more gloomy with regards to how things have been done around the club recently..I find it hard to see that levy will just allow Mourinho to do his thing

Do we have to have this conversation here in addition to the myriad threads that it already dominates?

Please.....let’s not get the itk thread closed again.

The writing was on the wall going right back to last years summer friendlies, when he appeared, what looked like at least 2 stone overweight. That coupled with the lack of drive or work ethic to make it in a tough league. In fairness his work ethic was questioned at his previous club and how we missed or decided to gamble so much on him is beyond me. Can we just stop buying players beginning with N from france. I imagine Poch must be wondering what would have happened had he signed Fernandes rather than nDombele, one hit the ground running the other can't run

So the success of our TW is contingent on getting 50m for an unfit, sulky player who doesn't want to train or play but is happy to roll around in a swimming pool full of dosh. Can't see many suitors willing to play ball. This might be DLs biggest challenge yet, when it comes to transfer negotiations.

Which is why I can only see this being a two year loan agreement with someone or someones coming our way in exchange. But who??

You’ve managed to convince me he’s off to Barça or PSG with this

The reason being is if Tanguy is so unprofessional then recruitment and our scouting should have spotted it...I don’t buy that it was all down to Poch, you can’t have it both ways. I also think that levy wouldn’t reinvest considering the economics of the club if we were to get the money back

how the hell should our scouting of possibly noticed this. when playing for Lyon he played in a league that wasn't as physical or as fast as the premier. I said to someone on here after we played Norwich away over Xmas that he doesn't like the physicality he received. he also signed to play for Poch, but obviously didn't understand what he was going to be facing in training. he most probably trained well with Lyon but found it a lot harder.

he was also earning a lot less in wages and doing enough to get a big move on a big wage, the scouts wouldn't know he would down tolls when he tripled his earnings.

a lot of players struggle in their 1st season in a new country, and I doubt with all the disruption of a new manager taking over 4 months helped.

He joined us at the peak of our international reputation off the back of the CL final, and as stated by himself, in depth conversations with Pochettino swung it for him. I’d imagine that looking from the outside in, we seemed like a rock solid move to a club that was on an upward projection with related solid finishes around 2nd-3rd and with a well cemented top notch manager. Little did he probably realise that there were some rotten aspects to our core with a jaded squad and manager that had been underperforming for a length of time despite the CL run.

With our bad start and manager implosion it seems likely that he has simply downed tools and thrown the towel in at the first sign of adversity, most likely perceiving that this is not what he signed up for.

Despite that, it’s completely unacceptable and shows that he simply probably doesn’t have the attitude to recover with us. It smells like a player who has simply decided that he is a big enough name and prospect to abandon ship for another big club, instead of fighting to overcome unforeseen events.

We need to try and recycle as much money as possible out of this and sign a different player who is committed, keen to join us and has the attitude to get stuck in and bust his balls under Mourinho
The problem is that his attitude will quite possibly be putting off a lot of these clubs that he will aspire to play for.

Main striker target is playing in prem not at a bottom 3 team or top 4 from last seasons table so that gives u a good clue

he will cost around 50 will only happen if we shift Tanguy

we have interest in Tanguy but not at the 42 mill Dl wants

the striker will only happen if Tanguy goes imo unless we Sell others and as things stand no firm interest in our players apart from serge

no interest in winks or lamela contrary to press

Jose does not want Suarez

korean lad big chance Jose likes he is big and strong and Wants to come our only concern is like son he will Play a lot of internationals

my feeling is serge and Tanguy will go and the Korean lad , one of the three right backs Ive spoken about and the striker Will come in

like holberg the other two players we want are really good solid pros , I actually like Jose choices , neither player are Crazy Money the board should deliver imo , for the two players we are a big step up for both which is why I think will happen

and then

Right back and second striker are the biggest priorities right now

midfield it will be holberg with one of glc or winks and we have sissoko too

then

Jose loves rakatic , we have been offered lots of real and Barca players but many are seen as luxuries and we want to get the players Jose wants first as in players in their prime who will be key components just as you can see holberg will be , theN we can look at taking one or two in on frees if the wages aren’t insane
we have tried and failed again for bale in the last week honestly that would only happen last min if bale decides he wants to come and will take a huge wage cut

if we can’t get the cash in for TN, Skriniar is probably the best option in a trade. Get the Korean monster in future window.

Can't comment on the rest of that because I don't know. The Bale stuff however is 100% not true.

So our transfer hopes hinge on selling a known overweight, lazy midfielder with a bad attitude with no loss?

Great.

so if we can sell TN we’ll go big on a striker, am assuming this is Ings or Jimenez given precious links, if TN stays we’ll presumably go for a Wilson type. Sounds good to me but I can’t see the TN situation being sorted quickly.

would love Rakitic if he’s fit and motivated!

So we are going to spend 50m on Jimenez if we sell Tanguy then not replace Tanguy.

A CB and one RB to come in. That would be another underwhelming window.

I personally can't see us signing two RBs with Gedson being given minutes and Tanganga an option too. I get that although there's certainly risk to that.

But we've got to invest in the middle of the park in both the defensive and attacking sense.

Don’t like the CM will be Hojbjerg and one of glc or winks. We need a new CM - how can Jose not see winks isn’t good enough to start. GLC is class but he can’t get us top four on his own he needs someone of similar quality and mr sideways/backward 5yd pass isn’t that man

Striker Dragon is talking about is clearly Ings imo.

Mourinho would also love Ings for his work rate.

But to be honest I'm applying massive salt to the that latest update.

It doesn't soung like a great plan or seem to align with other ITK that does sound more like a Mourinho plan.

Regardless of who it actually is, I'd be staggered if we spent 50m on a striker, even if we did manage to shift Ndombele. With everything we've heard lately, that doesn't seem like it would be a prudent allocation of funds when we've got a little known bloke by the name of Harry Kane at the club.

edit: the more I read that, surely he means something else by "he will cost around 50." Surely he doesn't mean 50m.
