Hojbjerg looks a bit slow to me having watched some clips of him. He weirdly looks adept at winning the ball though despite his physique.

Hojberg, Edouard and Meunier would be what I would call a fantastic-realistic window for me. We aren’t going to address all of our needs, but that’s a darn good start. Think the outgoing players would be KWP, Rose, Verts, Lamela (sadface), and maybe Sissoko. Hopefully that could raise the funds needed/clear wages to secure Meunier. Loan out Parrott to Celtic, if they want him, to make the Edouard deal happen.

Looks realistic - so no chance.

Opinion divided on here, similar story re toby and victor i seem to remember

I actually wanted both of those. Not worried about Holbjerg. Southampton fans I know don't think he's anything that special. And reading that thread it sounds like lots of their fans don’t think he’s great either, going all the way back to 2018.

Soton could still potentially go down. That would also lower the price.

If they stay up, I’d see us offering 15 to 20m, and then supplementing the deal with one year loan deals including KWP, Skippy and potentially Foyth as well.

KWP would probably be included in a player + cash permanent swap.

I think there's as much chance of Skipp being as good as Hojbjerg could ever be next season so I wouldn't agree with that move.

Hojbjerg and Edouard would be fantastic additions and also realistic. I think with the financial crisis for some clubs, we could probably get Hojbjerg for around £20m and Edouard for around the same but I'm not sure I can even see us spending £40m this summer with all of the uncertainty.

Yes we could sell a few players to reduce the spend but I'm not sure it's going to be easy to do that. Levy will be trying to steal some prices whilst selling ours at their usual value.

Hojbjerg has a fantastic attitude and mentality and I think his character would be brilliant for our squad.

I think the point you make about attitude and mentality is spot on. You don't need to be a world beater in that position, just do the hard graft that allows those around you to flourish. Dier did this well previously and I wouldn't say Hojbjerg is a lesser player. Could be exactly what we are after.

100% and there is no doubt in my mind that Hojbjerg is twice the player that Dier is. Dier as you mentioned did a fantastic job a few seasons back but a combination of injuries/operations seems to have seriously impacted his movement, confidence and sharpness as you would expect.

Agreed, we need a big character in there with leadership qualities to enable GLC & Tanguy to flourish. Our team is crying out for a big personality in midfield, PEH seems to have the qualities we have been lacking

Not slow at all. He’s not quick but for CM he’s got more than enough, especially when he consider that he’s tall and strong too. Plus he’s very good at reading the game and gets to most things firsts, while moves the Baal decisively. He’s tailor made for a counter press.

He’s also a leader.

Whether he can step up to higher expectations is another matter, but he appears to have the right mindset to do it.

Holblerg did a good interview with the football ramble well worth a listen. I’d say would could definitely do with his character.

Cheers. Just listened to it. If anything it has added a bit more doubt in my mind about him.

I think it is because with this defensive midfield position we simply can’t get it wrong. We must get the right guy. I’m not certain it’s him.

Personally I don't see him as our defensive mid option. That's never been his style. He has good defensive attributes and puts a shift in but he's similar in style to Winks. He has been partnered in a Southampton team in recent years alongside a Romeu, Lerma, JWP or Davis etc. I see him playing a similar role to what Winks offers us or a replacement for Sissoko. I can't imagine Jose trusting Sissoko as a long term option and I see him being sold in a few windows time as it is.

I remain unconvinced. We need the right player at the base of the midfield and I don't think he's it. He's not terrible but i'd liken it to signing somebody in the ilk of Sigurdsson or Dempsey. He might have certain likeable characteristics but plain and simple i'm just not convinced he's good enough. The mooted price tag is outrageous and i'd much rather we went for Phillips from Leeds if we're looking for talent closer to home who I am much more convinced by.

I agree. If it was a question of sissoko out and him in I’d be for it. A swap would be awesome but I’m not sure Southampton would be keen!
