Pragmatism isn’t very popular around these parts. So Jose’s tactics are meant to be outdated but I’ve just seen a team from Madrid knock out (apparently) the best team in the world by parking the bus over two legs.

This really annoyed me when you had that scouse twat tonight saying how the had injuries do it’s to be expected that Liverpool aren’t playing like before but yesterday it was excuses for usSo Liverpool's season hits the rocks in a period where they lose Henderson and Alisson to injury.
But injuries aren't a valid excuse...
Note the style of play from Liverpool's opposition tonight too. Wonder if the Ateltico fans are saying how lucky they were right now? Wonder if Simeone is a 'coward' for his wait and see style. There are multiple ways for winning a football match. Are Spanish journos calling Simeone lucky for his dated passive/reactive style? (Unsurprisingly some of the serial Jose bashers in the media are creaming over Simeone tonight)
Granted Ateltico are superbly coached defensively and have a great spirit and motivation that we can only dream of at this moment in time, but it's certainly food for thought.

Why won’t people see this? The anti mourinho bias is blinding them!
1 - no Son, Kane, Bergwijn, Davies, Sanchez.
2 - Ndombele not fit.
3 - Lloris, Gazza & Vorm making simple errors in last 4 games.
4 - Not a single striker option in the squad.
5 - Toby and Vertonghen both aged this season.
6 - Eriksen has left.
7 - no strong presence in the centre of the park.
8 - zero pace in the squad.
All of the above are true and not a single one of them is Jose’s fault.
Please god someone start an “Anti Mourinho” thread because this place is becoming unfortunately unbearable due to the constant whinging in every single thread!
When Poch couldn’t win for love nor money (with Kane, Son and Eriksen) it was all Levy’s fault but somehow no considering we don’t have the aforementioned players, it’s all Jose’s fault!
The entitled fans in here can give you whiplash.
Simeone sets his team up with clear instructions. They run for him, they work hard for him and they know their role. 20 games in, do you think Mourinho has that?
Sorry if you thought thats what I meant. I didn't.Everyone seems to be treating points in isolation to suit arguements which is wrong.
Not having true strikers on the pitch doesn’t just help attack it helps defending as well.
I have never said kane or son are the sole reason for our problems - I was simply replying to a post talking about looking bereft of ideas going forward.
There is so much wrong with us at the moment to pin it on any one thing is complete shit - and seems to be done by the Jose haters as it’s an easy narrative. For the record my opinion on why we are utter shite right now (which by the way set it when poch was our manager):
confidence issues
Ageing players
Bored players
Injuries
Wrong tactics (part fault of injuries)
Stale squad
New stadium
Raised expectations
Stronger teams around us
the only thing that will fix 90% of that is time.
don’t come at me like I’m suggesting Kane and son are our only problems and trying to disprove me by chucking defensive frailties as a reason. My opinion is liberal, taking into account all reasons compared to those who are so anti Jose they can’t see past it and can’t offer a considered and balanced thought process.
to offer final balance -
did I want mourinho - I thought he was the most obvious and attainable choice
has he done what I thought he would - no 100%
are there mitigating circumstance - yes 100%
does his reputation of winning allow him at least 12-18 months - yes 100%
all those that disagree with this, fill your boots, but don’t reason or come at me with your biased anti mourinho shit - it’s boring!
I don’t think Mourinho inspires the same dedication that Simeone does. Mourinho has more trophies but has worked with much bigger budgets overall and also moved around a lot. Simeone has stayed at the same club for years and turned them into a consistent powerhouseHe has had it in the past when he’s spent a bit of time with his team. They both have a similar philosophy towards how to play football and one is called outdated and the other one is winning big matches. Give José time and we’ll be similar. It’s not great to watch but wouldn’t call it outdated.
Stop the comparisons with Simeone. He’s been at Athletico for years and perfected a counterattacking style that is based on superb defensive organisation and ruthless attacking transition. He’s also developed many players to become excellent. He might play counterattacking football but he’s not Mourinho- he’s on a different level. Think Poch but with advanced tactical nous. The comparison with Mourinho is just lazy bollocks
Or in reality a central midfielder who had scored only 3 pro goals in over 6000 minutes before tonight! ?Because they had strikers
It’s not really. He has definitely achieved remarkable things but we’re late to the party with this one. Football continuously evolves, it’s a palimpsest of tactical development overlapping tactical development. Mourinho is buried somewhere in that palimpsest, beneath the surface of what currently works, irrespective of whether that’s a high press or deep block counter attackThis might be true right this moment (although they are hardly flying in la liga either this season), but man that is so incredibly dismissive of Mourinho's career and a achievements its almost comical.

Personally I think they are due this run of performances. Those players must be burnt out as they have been outstanding for 2 years now.So Liverpool's season hits the rocks in a period where they lose Henderson and Alisson to injury.
