I have no idea why people suddenly expect us to be winning games and playing decent football:

We have our two biggest goal threats injured
We have an aging defense where our top performers like Toby and Jan aren't hitting the levels they previously did
We have been left with a non existent CM with Dembele and Wanyama gone and others not stepping up
We have Dele who has the pre conceived notion that he is the second coming of Ronaldo but closer inspection would have him as a non ginger, Gary Doherty.
We have no really top level full backs.
Our record signing is alarmingly so far off what is expecting in the Premier League
Finally.... Sissoko as much as people love and hate him, who has been a key player for us the last two seasons is injured

But yes, lets say Jose is crap and hasn't earned our respect blah blah blah. We are an absolute shit show currently and i don't even think Klopp, Guardiola (if you rate him), even SAF could get this team doing much right now.

Let's be patient, get to the end of the season and see what he can do with a full pre-season and hoepfully brining in at least 3 top class players he wants. We will then start next season with Lo Celso and Bergwijn being used to the league (unsure if Ndombele will stick around) and we can push on from there with Kane and Son back.

You look at our squad compared to Liverpool, Chelsea, City and the injuries we have, we are still some way off those guys and our expectations need to be tapered for the time being.

OK. After reading through the last 35 pages it's quite clear we have 2 "cliques".

For the record in the poll i was a "
Meh - will give him a chance and hope he is successful"

I like so many felt it was time up for Poch. It hurt me to the core but it was the right move at the right time. Something needed changing. It was clear the players we not playing for him!

I was however very dubious of Mourinho due to his most previous stint at Man Utd.

Who are you?

Edit: meh who cares, no point in stirring the pot more.
I"m your other mind. Yes you care about how we play. Yes you care about how turgid our performances have been.

He is not the messiah. He is just a naughty boy!

I dont see how we can judge Mourinho on this season at all. You only have to watch the games to see half the players are fucked which is why we can play well in short patches but cant sustain it, they look tired and we are seriously lacking options in the attacking areas.

We have attacking midfielders trying to fill in as forwards, we have had so many injuries, we have unsettled players, we have players that are declining, and we have a manager trying to sort this out mid season.

I keep reading "but we should have enough in this squad to beat Norwich or beat Southampton" and yes but when the squad is so disjointed, tired, incapable of playing at a faster tempo or pressing, and to be fair a good number of these so called better players are living off past reputations and need replacing.

Mourinho may prove not to be the one but he needs a pre season and full season. If it were up to the fans klopp would have been out during his 1st season and so would our last manager. They all need time

This is what I don't get. I mean I understand that players get tired, but why are we completely gassed? Are we training to hard between games under Mourinho? Except Aurier, who is "ironically" the one playing the most minutes, any player playing a couple of games in a row ends up playing with 0 energy. Even when we got 7-8 days between games there is no spark.

Generally speaking I think Mourinho has done well, and it is not like we were a high energy team under Pochettino the last 12-18 months either, but we seem to be getting worse by the game at the moment. Lucas, Alli, Winks and Bergwijn looked like they were playing extra time in a world cup final after 30mins against Norwich. Just exhausted. Tired is one thing - this was another level.

Weirdly though Jan looked more lively than he has for a while. And he played 2 hours. I was one who was thinking his legs had gone and he was done, but Wednesday makes me think otherwise.

He’ll end up coming round to my way of thinking. Just like in every other thread. When you’re only 18 you get chirpy at first until you realise you’re in the wrong don’t you @Spurrific?
Let's face it, he'll take your mantle on here one day.

I just think people need to write this season off in their head and give Jose a full preason and few transfer windows to inject his philosophy.

Nah, I’m not writing off the season yet. I don’t know where it will come from but win somehow on Saturday and then try not lose again until we get at least Kane and sissoko back and you never know. No other team seems to want to grab the last CL place and are very erratic.

You're just asking for disappointment mate.
Just accept it now and you'll feel better for it.
Its the hope...

I guess it is easier to shine when the rest are hardly moving.

But this is also kind of what I mean. Normally players will go through periods during a season were they look a bit more tired for then to come alive again. When was the last time it felt like we played with energy? And I am not necessarily talking about the high press. That is usually not Mourinho's style (even if I think it is exaggerated how deep he likes to defend - his RM team pressed high - as an example), but when you are not pressing high you are preserving energy for CAs (usually). We do not counter-attack with energy at the moment. And against organized defenses we do not only look clueless (which we did under Pochettino as well for the last couple of years), but I can't say we seem to "try" that much either? Some times things look disjointed because players time their runs wrongly etc., but at least you can see the energy.

Especially Wolves was disappointing. That should have been us as energized as we can get at this stage of the season. And Norwich was realistically our only shot at accomplishing anything this year. Both chances lost.

I like this thread.... Fight fight fight... Should really all meet up and fight this out.. Beats fury wilder 3 any day

Look why do we have to be absolute when judging Jose... He is either great or shit. Constructively I would have expected greater improvement and really don't like the moaning about players because if you're a player... What does that say about them when hearing it? I also think the tactics and approach are poor and making the players look worse than what they actually are.

The other side of the coin is Jose hasn't had much to work with in terms of players and it's been an intense four months.... Players also got to look at themselves...

It is turning sour quickly though and shit needs to be sorted. The thing is do we trust him with the money when there is a risk that things don't improve or that things continue as they are with the tactics and approach to games? I'm not convinced.

If you were a batsman and I took your cricket bat away, how many times would you fail? Judging him on this season when he’s joined mid way and is having to deal with an injury crisis is so short sighted and unfair it’s unbelievable.
It's the turgid, risk averse, submissive and insipid football that he serves up is the biggest concern. It's the square peg in round hole team tactics and formation that is alarming. All i'm asking is for the players that he has available are played to their strengths.

Thing is that some of it is down to the outlook/attitude of the fans. I would say that 0% of fans are happy with how things are but some are waiting to see how things pan out in the summer/next season and some have made their minds up. The latter are only going to get more and more wound up.
