Just watched Sheffield v Brighton and they have nowhere near the quality at their disposal that we do and yet their fight and work-rate put ours to shame.

If you fight, hassle and work your nuts off you will always have a chance - contrast that with us. I don't know if it's tactical and we are conserving energy to have a charge in the last 20 minutes but I'd like to see a much higher tempo and work-rate from the team and that should be within Jose and the teams ability.

I think there are some relevant excuses for Jose - lack of strikers and perhaps a certain amount of weariness but we don't currently look more than the sum of our parts - we look less.

Can't do much with a team of international level players... are you sure about that?

Teams with half the quality we have in our squad have been turning Chelsea over all season. Or at least setting out to play them at football not just rolling over and playing negative from the first minute.

The answer is always buy more shiny new players right.

I think you're over rating a lot of the 1st team today. Winks and davies are squad players at best, JT is raw and just a kid, verts is finished and we had no striker and sorry to say ndombele looks a million miles away from a £70m player but of course hope he comes good as there is a player there . Yes we have some good players but so many clear and obvious weaknesses.

My worry, and it’s becoming a real worry, is that Jose is doing what he did at United, and it’s the main reason that OGS actually looked like he had a clue when he went in. If you haven’t got fit players in key positions, you at least need to put your roundest pegs in the roundest holes. We literally had no more than two or three playing in familiar positions, some of that is down to injury, but some of it is down to reluctance to chuck some youngsters in.

I’ve grown to like Mourinho and there’s lots about him to be positive about, he’s hamstrung by the little teflon bald **** like all and sundry before him, but I’m getting worried when I genuinely think asking Ledley King to pick a team and tell them to go out and play would actually have us looking like we’ve got more idea than what we’ve actually had the last few matches.

We are actually fucked. Properly.

Why all the excuses, it doesn't make up for the backward looking tactics, hit and hop gutless performances we have to watch every match, well at least the first half. Anybody turns us over these days. We scrape wins, lucky wins, witness Mcity, Norwich and Saints...... longer list supplied if required.
Is ' hit and hop ' a new style based on the famous push and run side??

If we don't make top4 i'm not going to enjoy the argument cycle of us not being able to afford a striker because we didn't make the champions league which we might have done if we had signed a striker in January which we didn't do as we wanted to wait and spend the money in the summer on a striker :cautious:

we've got 22 outfield players in the first team. 4 out injured, 1 is named Wanyama. Thats 17 to chose from, including Skipp and Foyth. I dont think we are spoiled for choice.

People know how well we could have lost many of those games there yet we manged to get some results instead.

What would have been preferred? To lose those games just to be proven right?

Are we really entitled to watch the scintillating Spurs 3 years ago considering our situation this season?

It could be half-glass empty, but it could also be half-glass full.
Well, I like your post but isn't just, glass empty.

If this was the wrong appointment, as appears to be the case, then we’re 100% actually properly fucked.

We won’t sack him till the early months of next season, at which point no sane manager will want to come in and clean up his mess, leaving another season of transition before we get another manager in next summer to start yet another rebuild.

We really couldn’t afford to get this appointment wrong, but it’s looking like we have.

How about get rid of Mourhino and get someone in who wants to play more attacking football. Leipzig next week, Wolves Saturday = Two first halves of headless chicken defending followed by the occassional stampeding breakaway, that Moura will eventually fuck up.

I fully appreciate everyone should have their own opinion but I struggle with those tripping over each other to make excuses for Jose recently. Yes its not 'his team', yes he doesn't have a recognised top CF but Jesus Christ this is awful to watch. Not just aesthetically but energy, heart, fight... to me its just not what it should be.

Yes we've had a few good results under Jose but my God some luck as well as well. In the first weeks we were winning crazy games where we had to score 3/4 to win. Wolves battered us but we scrapped a win. City (lets be honest) battered us but we hung in there and got a win. Norwich/Soton away we were woeful. Chelsea, Liverpool, Leipzig at home we set up like a minnow team away from home. Today we set up not to concede from the start but still gave them 17 shots on target..!

Give him time for sure as what choice do we have but can we please at least acknowledge we've been pretty turgid under Jose, he's not proven himself yet and this is not what "To Dare is to Do" is about.

Edit: God that feels better

I would so like to disagree with you but I can’t disagree with you !

The set up of the team today and weds (like minnows as you rightly say) was disgusting.

I’m not too bothered about the style as long as we win but that is awful shit. And I’m liking Jose from a personal view but today is not good enough. This is the 2nd highest paid manager in the world ffs.Embarrassing

I don't understand why we couldn't use moura as a proper wide right, Bergwijn as a proper wife left, and try and get overloads in wide area using our full backs, and have dele / Gio /other midfielders arriving into the box for pull backs. Leaving their 3 centre backs marking nobody, and we take the space in behind their wing backs. At least then we play to the strengths we do have, ie tricky wingers, and into the weakness of chelsea's 3 at the back.

So hard to say if it was the wrong appointment. Initially there were promising signs and he closed a 12 point gap to 1(now4) pts from 4th then Kane and son happened BUT the constant has been the style of football and I can’t see how it’s going to be successful as it doesn’t suit our players, I also now hate watching it as we skip out the midfield and I think most fans are also becoming disillusioned by it.

Like you say the real worry is that we baxk him with big money this summer have a shit start to the season have to sack him and the rinse and repeat... fingers crossed Jose still has some magic but no striker aside our lack of actually playing football makes me quite concerned now.

People explaining away our two best players and top scorers as being a slight problem then slating a manager for not being able to cope ...
