That is one of the most garbage halves of football I have ever seen.

Players just doing lower league clearances most of the time, with no attempt to get the ball down and just smashing it vaguely forward. It took half hour before I counted us completing 5 passes. The formation isn't working, we look confused, defensively we're all over the place, and Southampton are just running rings around us. We've done less than zero with the ball, so zero chances, until a couple of counter opportunities at the end that were horrifically barbecued.

Somehow as this all happened we went 1-0 up. It unsurprisingly and quite justly didn't stay that way.

I don't know why we didn't switch to a back four after about 5 mins, there'd been enough warning signs by that point.

It just simply must be better than this.

I think talk of us being so bad is a bit premature, Hassenhuttl has had time to get Southampton playing this way and shouldn't be underestimated.

Southampton are good, but we should be playing much better.

Turgid. Poor, poor team selection. We’re playing with effectively 4 CBs and 2 FBs, and have two wingers as strikers who are too selfish to play together.

I would take off Verts, Dier and Sessegnon. Put on Sanchez at LCB and move Tanganga to LB. Play Parrot at CF with Dele, Moura and Son behind him.

We’re the home side against Southampton FFS!!!!

We are so lethargic & 2nd best all over the pitch Moura & Son can't keep the ball & for supposedly quick players the S'Hampton CB are out running them, plus we are all over the place at the back.

Hate to say it mate but you wanted this. You wanted Poch out and the players backed in their spat with their manager who made them work hard to become better than the sum of their parts.

Complaining about the cattle after you shot the farmer just feels a bit much.
3-0 away at Brighton suggests that we was no better under poch.

Poor Jan. He’s another one who’s legs have turned to jelly. I don’t think he’s got another season in him. Sad.

Thought this would be a car crash when i saw the formation....
Everytime we start with the three at the back we change it at ht.
Jan is done, a great servant but enough.
Needs to be replaced and Gedson on and go flat back four

Look, this is just a fake out for the technical analysts at Leipzieg - so they've got nothing to go on. José is a genius at mind games...

Ndombele blowing out of his arse again ?.
He is a disgrace. I can except bad performances but to be sooo unfit after training day in and day out every day and be so unfit after 7 months especially when he clearly has a lot of talent is not good enough.

Another abject 45 mins of football. There’s still so many players that need shifting and Jose has been crippled by injuries and the lack of confidence, and I some cases ability, of those at his disposal.

You're probably right. Every time he's been on the ball he's done pretty well but he hasn't been involved enough and doesn't really look that up for it. Personally I'd prefer it if we took off Dier and brought on Gedson or Skipp but I can definitely see Jose picking Tanguy.

I am a proper Tanguy fanboy but actually he was pretty poor that half. We know what he's like on the ball but he's been unbelievably poor off it

Would take off Sess for Parrot. He might not be good enough yet but at least we would actually have a focal point up front. We may need him in the months to come.
