We signed Mido on an 18 month loan off the back of half a season at at Roma where he played 8 times, scoring no goals.

He had an incredible debut for us, scoring twice, but then discovered chick king and didn’t score again all season. Then, in shape, he started the following season on fire, scoring 11 goals in the first half of the season as well as bringing the best out of Keane, before rediscovering chick king and doing naff all after January.

Then for some reason we signed him permanently, despite having just signed Berbatov.

Moral of the story? Keep Piatek away from Chick King.

Weghorst would actually be decent. Intelligent player and good movement and feet for a big lad

YES. More people on the Weghorst train.

I'd fucking love that to happen. BASED ONLY HIS NAME YOU UNDERSTAND.

Wasn’t Weghorst just off @Stoof ‘s wishlist?
There was a thing on Twitter that said we had a four striker wish list. He was one of them and Werner was the other playing in Germany. Wasn't the ITK about that?

I appreciate this is the PIATEK THREAD but, you know, WEGHORST. WOUT!!

Well he's obviously good enough to keep Ibrahimovic out of the team. :cautious:
To be honest it;s perfectly feasible that the Milan end played him to make a point to us and he had to play to avoid making a fuss but clearly wouldn't have been 100%.

This is problem with January buying - there are simply not good enough options. Instead of buying a risky candidate now, its better to loan some decent striker for 6 months and wait till summer to make the move on someone proper.

If we were to do this, I would like us to buy the other star player of PSV - Donyell Malen - unfortunately suffered a knee injury and had a surgery a week back. According to my Dutch friends, he is a great talent as a striker and someone who will lead the line of national team for years. I would rather us put the money on such players than waste on risky bets like Piatek.

SOUND THE WEGHORST KLAXON.

At least he would have scored the point blank header that Piatek put over the bar lol.

Rebic overshadowed him but he was lucky to escape a red for elbowing someone in the back in the 1st half.

In Piatek’s defence Milan looked like a team of mercenaries... head down and keep running until you lose the ball... they weren’t playing as a team.

I’ve always been a fan of Giroud, and think he was a very good player (although not necessarily anymore), but have become very keen on the idea of a 24-year old who may yet develop coming in as part of the rebuild. I think Piatek is our man.
I think Kane is our man. People overthinking this. We don’t need a world beater, we just need someone who is good enough to fill in. If Llorente was “good enough” than Piatek and hundreds of other strikers are good enough. Im not impressed by Piatek by any means but It all is a bit irrelevant once Kane is back.

I am now also jumping on the Weghorst bandwagon. The guys an intelligent unit, get sonny and bergwijn running off of him and also them and lo celso supplying him and it could be a deadly attack!
