Very excited by this. Can see Toby staying now. Seems he's not bringing in faria as his assistant so it looks like he's refreshing his coaching staff.

According to an article, even Jorge Mendes advised him to freshen things up for his new job.

Is it possible that prior to signing a contract with us, Jose stated certain footballing things had to be agreed in said contract? Like recruitment etc.

from the article. Matic!?!?!?!

But unlike what he has done in previous experiences, the 'new' Mourinho will bet on young players. Plataforma knows the Special One wants to sign a few experienced footballers, such as Manchester United's Matic. But the focus will be on young players, such as Sporting Lisbon's Bruno Fernandes (which Tottenham tried to sign before) and SL Benfica's central defender Rúben Dias.

Reading through this, I am actually really fucking excited by this now. I thought it was a good appointment, anyway... but now.....

It kind of feels like that bit in Transformers where Bumblebee upgrades himself into the new Camaro, and the music goes a bit mean....

The bit in the film Major League where Rick Vaughn enters through the gates and "Wild Thing" starts playing...

You get the drift...

I haven't seen it mentioned, but this change has obviously been in preparation for weeks. Otherwise, we wouldn't have had a signed-up new manager a matter of hours after the removal of his predecessor was announced. It appears that the club didn't act to remove Pochettino and his team until they were sure they had Mourinho fully on board.

That suggests a detailed, perhaps even lengthy negotiation, which in turn would surely include written terms and promises regarding recruitment of coaches and players.

By the noises in the media about Campos, maybe a condition was that Levy handed over the transfers to a DoF?

Jose is now officially our manager.head coach.

Personally, I believe Pochettino has left Mourinho a ready made squad, just waiting to succeed. This squad is so much better than what he had at United and at their best, probably better than his 2nd stint Chelsea squad. This squad doesnt come with a baggage of a Pogba or a Rooney or Costa. Largely this group of Spurs players are brought up in team ethos and selfless in the way they play & conduct themself impeccably on & off the field.

Mourinho has everything he needs for a successful team - I just want to look at our Squad & assess to an extent who will make it or booted out eventually under a Mourinho side.

Lloris : I am afraid this injury & Jose being Jose, this is end for him at Spurs. I fully expect us go into market for a new no1 GK

Kane : Star striker & manager's dream - hold up, link up play, finishing, creativity, leadership. I believe he will now get the club captaincy

Son : Our true flair player & goal scorer. He will have a very important role under Mourinho side, playing the counter attacking forward

Toby, Jan : I wont be surprised if Toby and/or Jan will now sign a new deal. If Toby & Jan stays atleast short term there is some transition period for Jose to get someone younger.

Sanchez : Mourinho knows him inside out. He said in 2017, he exploited Sanchez weakness on ball to give the ball to him when United played Ajax in Europa final. Having said that, I dont think this is end of road for him. I still believe he will be integral part of Jose back 4

Davies & Rose : Davies is solid reliable LB. He will do well under JM. Rose form is not good at the moment & has contract issues. Who knows what could happen with Rose. For all I know, Jose might talk into staying & even signing a new deal.

Sessegnon : That leaves us Sessegnon. He should now be cursing his luck. He waited for 2 seasons to learn & play under Poch. Now its gone without him making a start. He doesnt shy away from playing young players. But only thing is, he doesnt want passengers or on the job learning. He will only pick Sess, if he feels he is up to it. Sess needs to just start training well and keep his head down and hope Jose will notice him eventually.

Aurier : Dead man walking. IMO, Jose isnt going to carry a mumbling stumbling error waiting to happen. Gone in Jan

Foyth : I believe Foyth rise will continue. JM gave chance to Christinsen who is of similar ilk (probaby Foyth better). I feel Foyth's versatility will keep him busy in his squad

Dier & Sissoko : Dier is going to be a big player for Jose IMO. His versatility in CB & DM will ensure he figures in Jose's plan. Sissoko will again be typical Jose team player

Dele : IMO , Jose will love to play Dele in his XI. Dele gives him attributes no other player gives - tactical nous, reading of the game, ability to run without the ball & cause chaos and creativity & finishing. I am sure we will see a more mature better Dele

Eriksen : He is still a goner for me. I dont see a way back for him, given what has transpired on & off the field. There is a chance that Jose could get him back on form for rest of season but I doubt it. I believe he will be sold in Jan

Ndombele & LoCelso : I do expect them to get a good run under Jose. I hope he builds his core XI around Ndombele. As for as Lo Celso, we paid 14m in loan fee so pretty sure he is here for next season and beyond. He is talented. I hope he can show that till end of season and cement his place

Lamela : Started the season well. injury & out of form and done for the season...probably the sequence continues for 6th year in a row. He could be great asset for Jose but I wont be surprised if he is shown the door in summer

Lucas : Squad player who can make the impact of bench. I believe he will stay and Jose will be happy to have him

Winks : Jose doesnt play ball playing CMs most often. Having said , Winks does possess fighting ability and has the desire & ability to carry the ball forwad and be box to mox midfielder. I think he will get a fair chance as well

KWP, Skipp , Tanganga & Parrott : I am afraid this is end of road of KWP as well. All 4 on the boat as Sess. They have to impress to get a look in.

Vorm & Wanyama : Gone by summer.

Gazzaniga : He is very good no2, he will remain a no2 under Jose as well.

Clarke : He has been well & truly screwed over. Not getting into Leeds. He needs to come back in Jan and hope to get noticed. I suspect he will go on another loan and drift off

Needs of the Squad : Jose will play 4-2-3-1 mostly with a defensive midfielder. IMO, he will look to bolster the defensive side in Jan/summer : we will try to land a RB, GK, a CB in Jan and may be a creative player for Eriksen

a small small part of me thinks that Levy fucking wants Rose out so much that when Rose said aslong as the manager believes in me i'll be staying was the straw that broke the camels back

I can't see Davies, Sissoko, Rose or Vertonghen being here too much longer. Davies isn't the sort of explosive full back we need, nor is Rose. Jan is on his way out anyway. Sissoko, for all his effort and his improvement since he's been here, perhaps isn't quite the quality Jose will be looking for.

Out of the young players I think Skipp and KWP are goners. Parrott and Sessegnon have a huge opportunity, as will Clarke. I don't know enough about Tanganga yet to guess either way.

thats what Mourinho was getting at in his interview about whats wrong at spurs, he said even 1 person not as happy as everyone else can bring the whole chemistry down. Now apply that to the snowflakes in here who dont like being called morons for saying moronic things and you get the jist. This place will have you reaching for the blade in no time. Stay positive, enjoy the ride. I'm excited too :)

There's always that Fellaini type who managers seem to absolutely love and fans can't get their head around and I believe Sissoko will be that man

Seems like a very pro Mourinho article. Not surprising since it appears to be a Portugese site. Will be great if it is all true but its a big if
