I think we’re quite right to keep pushing on with GLC if that’s who Poch wants. People are saying that we should move onto other targets, but I disagree. That’s how we end up with players we don’t actually want, like GKN. Look at Liverpool, waited and waited for Van Dijk and Keita, and finally got them. Poch has said this is a five year plan. If we need to wait until January, or even near summer, to get the player he wants, so bet it. I get that it isn’t great Betis messing us about, but that happens all the time in every walk of life. We’ll get past it eventually, and get the squad that Poch wants.

That’s not to say we should overpay by the way. I mean if we come back in 2020 I imagine we’ll eventually get the deal done.

I didn't say all of them did I. You have no authority to think who is better and who should be here. I try to ignore people like you and you should do the same.
If you’re going to be hugely passively aggressive without having been provoked then don’t expect it to be ignored. Nobody gave you any reason to post in such a sarcastic, confrontational way, you chose to.

This one is now looking like it will only get done if Betis come crawling back with their tails between their legs, based on Hercules’ latest.

We have well and truly entered ‘who blinks first’ territory. I for one cannot wait until 5pm on Thursday. Will enjoy the ride in the meantime.

I wonder if Barcelona or Roma had the same difficulties in signing Betis players

If we went and dumped 70 million on the table in 12 months then we could get this done.

Barca signing a 27 million player and potentially being expected to drop that in 12-18 months is a very different proposition.

Agreed. Can't wait for the season to start. Seems some people watch football solely for the transfer windows. Can't wrap my head around that for the life of me.

Daniel doesn’t have eyelids; it’s a well known fact in the scientific community.

Re Hercules info in the itk thread. Got to walk away from this one now and concentrate on other signings. Get those done if possible.

Lo Celso is worth substantially more than Pau Lopez cost Roma and what Firpo has cost Barcelona.

The bigger deals take time and negotiating an extra 5-10% inevitably costs buying and selling teams more.

Let's see how it all pans out over the next couple of days.

Apparently yes they did which is why the defender to Barca didn't happen last week.
I do think people invest too much emotions into what is basically just business negotiation, whatever Betis are doing it's not personal and whatever we think it isn't the end of the window there's still time for them to try it on before they do the deal. I know we all get pissed off and stuff but we didn't ought to imagine the negotiators do.

The sell on clause clearly has a lot to do with this. I imagine they'd have accepted 50m if they received pretty much all of that but only receiving 38m is probably making them reluctant.

They structure their finance and transfers totally different in Spain and Italy. But never mind, too much to go into any detail. British clubs cannot trade like that!
Not surprised when it’s about a third of the cost. These clubs need to realise they can’t have it both ways, can’t charge the ‘PL’ tax on a fee but then demand it all upfront, needs to be one or the other.
