Having looked more into Lo Celso, I'm not sure he'd be a good Dembele replacement (but may be a good Eriksen replacement), he's pretty much been playing CF recently, and people laugh at PSG for playing him as a DM.

To be fair, Sissoko has basically replaced Dembele's spot as our box to box player. Whilst he lacks the technical ability and silky movement that Dembele had, he does have strength and power moving forward. He is also more defensively sound than Dembele was, and he's an absolute engine for the full 90 mins.

What we need is a player slightly further forward that can pick the ball up from Sissoko and move it quickly towards our front 3, Lo Celso would be perfect for that and he would chip in with assists and goals.

I think the investment has to be made now. The stadium not only facilitates competitive wages for players (and in a sustainable fashion), but DEMANDS we make the investment due to the sponsorship deals we'd be looking at securing.

I think Levy realises that sponsors want to back winners. He's just been financially focussed on the stadium build until now, perhaps.
We hope so because the club isn't that far away from the summit imo and if we had invested last summer I believe we could still be in a title race this week although there are no guarantees I think we could have ran them both close.

Huh? We have 2 World Cup winners in our squad. 1 of them was captain.

Vertonghen, Alderweireld, Aurier, Wanyama, Lucas, Eriksen and Llorente have all won multiple league titles at previous clubs. It's only since coming to Spurs that their trophy hauls have dried up.

Ajax have been showing the world what a young and on the up team can do. One trophy won, a league title likely and a genuine chance of winning the Champions League.

Plus, the best, most consistently high quality, football we've played in my lifetime has been when we had a young and on the up team. It took a fluky record breaking winning streak for Chelsea to stop us winning the league a couple of seasons ago. A slow start and a concerted effort from the whole of the Premier League to get Leicester to be champions ahead of us the season before.

Lloris is the only one that counts, and he's a keeper. His influence over the field players is limited.
Llorente played 30 minutes in a group game in the WC Spain won
The other players you mentioned won things in a tin pot league, with the exception of Lucas and Aurier, but they weren't really important.
Sorry but I don't think any of those players is an experience winner like Bale. With experienced winner I mean someone who had an important role in winning those things and know what it takes. Bale scored in 2 of the CL finals. That is what I mean. It's about personality, not being in a squad that won a title. And imo, that is something we are missing.

Agreed.. Lloris won the WC and had a great tournament generally but was a very lucky boy in the final.

Bale scored an insane overhead kick in the CL final and basically won it for them in a half hour last year. That's big game personality at it's best.

I'd still love us to have him back because when we have everyone fit we are a really good team but he's that kind of player who can grab the biggest games and win them for you even at the very highest level.

Won't happen though :(

Never heard of him. Please could you say which player he is similar to?

He's was a bit like Ozil when he played in Argentina. He made one of the best passes I've seen with a rabona

It didn't work out for him in France as an AM, until he was dropped to CM. He showed an aggresion and determination to win back the ball that no one though he had in him. This move to CM earned him a spot in the national team, and in the WC squad. Although I don't know why he was never used. Everyone I know wanted him to play as a starter.
In Betis he became a leader imo. He would be a great buy imo, as a CM.

I can't think of a similar player right now

Anyone saying they wouldnt take Bale back is absolutely outside of their minds. He’s the exact kind of player we desperately need. He’s a winner and can change a game in an instant. We dont have that in this team.

I personally think Kane and Son have that in them, Eriksen too but would definitely take Bale no doubt.

Its ridiculous to say we don't have that in our team. If what Kane and Son do isn't game changing enough, well i'm flummoxed.

Those who know a bit more about Lo Celso, would you say he could be in addition to Grealish or instead of as he seems fairly similar

Lo Celso plays in the middle (more of a Dembele replacement) while Grealish is either a #10 or plays off of the left. No reason why they can't both play in the same team.

Always nice to get the Argentinian perspective, thanks. Looking at whoscored he seems to have played from DM all the way up to ST. That is the kind of adaptability Poch loves. Can see why he is on our radar (per JJ).

Lo Celso is more fit to play CM than Grealish imo. He’s actually good at getting the ball back. Grealish isn’t imo

I think a lot of the best CMs of the last 30 years started off as attacking mids or No 10s. Pirlo, Scholes, De Bruyne, even our dearly departed sweet prince, Mousa.

If you've got the talent and skills to play in the final third, but can add the responsibility and physicality to play in thee engine room, you're gonna be some player.
