It was clearly a dumb idea to close the window early unilaterally while for the rest of Europe it remains open. Especially in a world cup year when there is less time for transfers to occur. Wtf were they thinking?
I'm still a fan of the old days when you could transfer players all year except for a month before the end of the season.

It was (wrongly) anticipated that the rest of the European leagues would follow suit.

Yeah so a dumb assumption, exactly my point. Why would they follow suit when they know that if they keep their windows the way they are that it gives them a massive advantage in the transfer market?

The only out we have it to try to sell our deadwood to clubs in the premier league.

It was arrogance plane and simple. Being the richest league in the would the premier league probably thought the rest of Europe would follow their lead.

Latest ITK is extremely disappointing. Levy is paying the price (pardon the pun) for his previous mistakes of throwing money around at unproven, second rate players who we are now struggling to shift in order to bring in the players we *do* want/need.

Inevitably, one of these days his gambles were not going to pay off and it seems that we are bearing the cost of that now. My only hope is that Poch sees this period through and chooses not to walk. At this moment in time I wouldn't blame him.

After I have picked up all your toys thrown from your prams and if I survive cutting my wrists, I'm going to support Fulham, because we are doomed I tell you DOOMED.

FFS Lets see how this pans out, yes I was told we would get at least one in earlier, but I am still optimistic. A week in football can see a completely different scene.

I thought it was a good idea when they announced it but obviously was not thinking it all the way through!

Yeah but your job isn't to think these things through tbf!

I always actually liked how the window remained open a bit longer because it gave the opportunity to evaluate the squad in the first few league games and make changes if necessary. There is a winter transfer window for the same reason. Why not get rid of that if we don't want transfers occurring during the season?

How was I having a tantrum? I believe I posted after Herc expressed his concern & before he said he still expected the 3 signings...I can voice my unhappiness or discontent with news I hear without throwing my toys out of the pram.

Well, no you didn't and yes you can voice your concerns and nobody told you otherwise but I'm also at liberty to call your post a tantrum.

The Premier League should've asked the SC posters to put on a presentation for the club's owners/chairman before the vote.

Let’s get something straight here. HY is not wrong. But now the club are leaking through their connections. As far as I know with more information which I dear not share, this is ALL DL’s fault! I have no agenda against him. But his games of bluff and dear is backfiring. And I warned about this when those were championing early TW closure, and believing that we (EPL) could call the shots to buying clubs-we can’t!

There is no way we will put 6/7 players in sales I’m next 2 weeks! Absolutely no way! So from HY’s info then, we are fkd!

We have to complete our incomings, and do loans, and whatever ‘risks’ are needed, they have to apply. The club bought this upon themselves, by trying to be too cute.

Very sorry; that happens to be the truth and the issue.

Well that's really cheered me up!:shifty:

Ultimately, it's always about the money.

If it was just a case of squad numbers we would simply pay up the unwanted players' contracts and release them on a free.

That would be an extreme and stupid thing to do but we may have to accept less than our value if we want to move players on in a timely manner.
