I honestly feel we should be looking at the lower leagues as far as this is concerned. Can’t do any worse than Soldado, Jansenn of Llorente can they?

good thinking, the youth in the championship are always hungry to impress, there must be someone with potential like sessengnon and maddison ?

Bilbao have the unwritten rule of only signing players from the Basque Country. Would make sense for them trying to get Llorente home. Not many Basque strikers out there and they just received a big chunk of money when selling Laporte.

Llorente is 32 and we will not have many chances to sell him for anything later. But I believe we would truly need a new second striker.

Crystal Palace have been in talks with Dembele (Celtic) for the last 2 weeks. I’m sure other teams would also be sniffing around for him this window.

We seem to be getting worse and worse when signing strikers, but then realising they are shit more quickly......

Not sure if that’s progress of some sort, but it’s certainly not a great endorsement of our transfer policy.

I'm all for we can do better recruitment wise but when it comes to striker we're in a rather impossible position. No quality striker is signing for us as he knows he won't ever start meaningful games with Kane here. Unless we paid someone 200k a week it's not happening. Ignoring price tags too in today's market a decent striker would be way too much spend on a backup.

The only way is buying young ones who might develop (Janssen) or older ones who'll know their place (Llorente). Problem is more than anywhere striker is a confidence game, and if they're not playing they lose it and become useless.
If theyre development ones they'll never play and develop. What we need is a Son type clone, who'd get games in attacking mid to remain sharp but also act as another option as ST.

That doesn't make sense. It's like saying we wont play dier in midfield when the defenders are fit because he's a backup defender.

that comparison is very silly because we have FOUR centre backs and only ONE Striker if we sell Llorente, therefore Son will be seen as the 'option from the bench'

Two dodgy hamstrings and an even worse attitude. No thanks.

He's scored 8 goals in the SPL in the past year, fallen out with Rodgers and fallen behind Leigh Griffiths in the pecking order for context.

If @The Goat really does mean Llorente, I'll be quite sad. I was genuinely excited that we signed a guy with 15 league goals the previous season, still at a good age, with pedigree at the highest level both at club and international level, to play second fiddle to Kane. On paper it seemed very shrewd, so if we're giving up on him so soon it'll be a crying shame. That said, he has been awful so if we are able to erase this mistake with minimal damage and fuss then that would seem sensible.
Honestly the last bit makes it sound like we're planning on hiring a hitman.

Everything going smoothly in the ITK thread...people obeying the rules...then one bit of semi-cryptic ITK and up is down, black is white...cats and dogs living together. Mass hysteria. Just when A&C thought he could go to sleep...

You know what, haven't Celtic just got a forward on loan?

Arsenal try and push Giroud to Chelsea so the Auboomerang deal can go through. Levy phones Chelsea up, and offers them a great price on Llorente as an alternative on the condition they sell Batshuayi to us. We've upgraded our backup striker, Dortmund lose their replacement at the last minute and refuse to sell, and Levy has completely screwed over the Arse.
This makes perfect sense to me. Batshuayi was our top target the summer he went to Chelsea and of course Conte worked with Llorente at Juve and wanted him in the summer.

If Chelsea can manage to scupper the PEA deal to Arsenal by sending us a player they don't rate and getting the target man that Conte has wanted all along in return, they'd do it.

Agreed. This would be the perfect deadline day but it does seem optimistic unfortunately.

Except Batshuayi is not going to sit on a bench for 6 months before the World Cup.

Well Giroud would strengthen them more so why would they go for Llorente?

Son can carry on just as he is now. He can fill in for Kane as and when he's needed.

id like to think so but with moura incoming and llorente off, IF we dont sign a replacement, wouldnt surprise me if he was the first one to drop out although it shouldnt be him
