You're old and wrong

Forest were big in the 70s not 80s

The "Big Five", as it was known, was Arsenal, Liverpool, Spurs, Everton and Man U

I love Harry but I wouldn't say he is "likely" to beat Shearers record. He has got off to a good start vs Shearer but once Alan hit his stride he was smashing out 30+ goal seasons like there was no tomorrow.
You forget that as soon as Shearer was 28 he had a ridiculous number of injuries. Had seasons where he only scored 5 or 7 goals.

If there is a thread on another clubs forum that shows how far we have come in the last couple of years it is this one

http://forums.bluemoon-mcfc.co.uk/threads/ben-davies.326386/page-2

Man City transfer rumours linking them to Ben Davies, our reserve left back, and a reasonably positive response from a lot of them.

yes, of course. Lets help a rival out mid way through the season with their defensive problems. Why not. Its the nice thing to do. :)

Totally agree it won't happen, they pretty much have our entire team in their transfer rumours section, I just take it as a massive compliment

Only three times, and two of those were back when it was a 22 team league.

If they play this suggested formation they might keep Walker and Rose back a bit but we will murder them on the offensive. Sterling and Sane couldn't wingback to save their lives!

...........Willy
Sagna...Kompany.....Kolarov
..........Fernando
.....Yaya.........Silva
Sterling...KDB........Sane
...............Aguero

That team is woeful given their spending. Back 3 of sagna, kompany and kolarov, fuck me I'd be concerned if I were them.

"Only" 3 times. How many other PL strikers have even managed one! I must admit I forgot the PL once had more teams, certainly makes it harder for that record to be broken. The consistency required is what makes it's so tough, you basically need 10 seasons at the top.

From Bluemoon:

"
Pep's doing pretty shit. I just wish we'd gone all out in the summer so we could have a team that'd suite him more"

Sorry, didn't you spend over £150 million? :p

I would agree with that. Can only be good for the Prem. Everton, like us were historically (until Chelsea started distorting football) part of the 'big five' (Us, Man U, Everton, Arsenal and Liverpool)

Depends what you mean by "historically". Villa, She Wed, Leeds, Newcastle, Forrest, amongst others, could all say similar if you went back to a certain point of time.

Just reading back on my neg ratings, it seems a lot of people don't watch much football and are taken in by dabbing and advertising. Pogba is a very average footballer. The appropriate question is whether or not he is better than Sissoko, I would say Pogba just shades that. It's not even a comparison with Alli, who is a far, far superior player. Rolling over inferior opposition in a pub league like Italy doesn't make you a great player, is a bit like Janssen being a top scorer in the Dutch league.

That front line is pretty tasty, though, at least on paper. If it clicks, they'll score goals, even against us. But yes, it's hard to see them keeping a clean sheet with that lot.

To a degree, certainly Villa and Leeds for me would be bigger clubs than Chelsea and City if we go back to the pre billionaire era.

Andy Cole, Kevin Phillips, Terry Handball, Ronaldo, Van Persie and the bitey racist all scored 30 goals or more at least once. But yeah, Shearer was ridiculously prolific at Blackburn. I think he was the same age when he went to Blackburn that Kane was when he broke into our first team so it'll be an interesting comparison. He'll have to average about 19 goals per season for the next ten years to beat that record.

And people laugh at fans of other clubs who big up their own players and make claims like “only our tea lady is good enough to replace theirs”.
Do watch Pogba's games for Juve as a neutral before making such ridiculous posts.

Well they play in different positions and Alli is in a far better Spurs team than the one Lennon broke into. My point wasn't that Lennon was better than Alli, just that he was also massively hyped up as a teenager by our fans, but his development wasn't exponential and it's a lesson we should take on board before declaring things like Alli having a higher ceiling than Pogba.

I've been a huge Alli fan from that first pre-season game against Real Madrid, but comparing him when he's on the best run of form of his career to Pogba who's arguably just had the worst game of his entire career isn't sensible. When someone like Andrea Pirlo says Pogba is the best young player he's ever seen and Zinedine Zidane says he could become one of the best players in the history of the game, you give him a bit more time.

Does the fact that we're not posting in a thread mocking other fans for having such low opinions of our star players perhaps think that maybe we're guilty of doing the same thing with theirs?

I know what your point is. But it's wrong. Lennon was hyped (but decent) but Dele is the real deal.

Unfortunately I have to agree with @SpursDave88 I have seen Pogba play about 30 times and never seen anything to warrant this reputation he has! Never seen him boss a game! Never seen him boss a midfield! He will ping a 40 yarder in top bins once every 20 games and people rave! He is a £20m player! Poor business by Utd when you think of Wanyama bossing it he cost £11m Pogbas been bang average for £90m! If Utd stopped chasing "big names" and were smart with there money they'd be dangerous

I have... and I know a number of Italian Juve fans very well, they literally could not believe how badly they had mugged off Utd. "He isn't even our best midfielder" they said....
