But surely the fact that he is plan b suggests that the fee isn't an issue and as such plays no part in how they were prioritised? Regardless, seems he's off the agenda now thankfully.

i dont trust levy i still think his dna is to shoot for success on the cheap/er. he prefers to trade multiple assets which is why we see so many ins and outs practically every window.

then theres poch. i get frustrated when our new managers and coaches want to raid their old clubs, when likely leaving the club in question in the first place makes dealing with said club more difficult and expensive. he wants lallana, lovren, morgan, rodriguez, now wanyama, probably others we dont know about. this shows limited knowledge and horizons.

So as it stands, the 'best' of the ITK is suggesting Berahino and Witsel.

That would make for an excellent window but we all know how it usually pans out………It isn't unusual for us to get the collective horn on the last day or two only for the transfer window to close her legs and say get off big boy.
If it happens, "excellent" would be a gross understatement.

Ah fuck. I was determined to not get excited for fear of being let down this window but then we get some genuine positivity on a very good player like Witsel. Damn you transfer window!

I'm willing to go A&C style balls on the line and predict that we won't get Witsel and Berahino even if it's true that we are trying, maybe Bera alone but definitely not both.

Axel Witsel has joined up with the Belgian National Team today. A pic is on the official Belgian NT twitter page. Doesn't look like any move is imminent

Rather he was in Belgium than Russia. He'll have our boys around and in his ear, no doubt. The Witsel deal has to be more about agreeing with Zenit than the player.

Not necessarily, deals can easily be reached and he can take a medical elsewhere. I think he'll be braced for a potential move to someone in the next 24 hours.

Mystery going 180 in a couple of hours of info, was the first piece of ITK from today or yesterday as it makes no sense otherwise.
Things can change that quickly. But I dont think Mystery did a 180. His first piece of info said Wanyama was first choice over Witsel. Then he came back and reported what we had heard just after his first piece, that Saints have effectively closed up shop.

I can't agree with this. All managers are the same. They've worked with players, know exactly what they'd bring to the team and how they'd adapt. It's why Harry always took Defoe with him and Crouch. He knew how they'd play, how they'd fit in. It makes 100% sense to take players that a manager knows and wants. It kills the risk factor considerably. Limited knowledge and horizons? How about, understands weakness and holes in sides and knows exactly what plug is needed to fill them.

Reminds me of Moutinho "joining" when he was in a plane to a match in Portugal ;)

What frustrates me is that we sign up scouts who originally discovered the likes of Mahrez at bargain prices and they promptly go on to identify Mahrez at anything but a bloody bargain price!

Exactly, SB is just down to finances nothing else, elsehed be a yid already,no competition either in his signature. Witsel we have finances for, barac milan who cant afford him no one else is really linked (although scum could do with him in a way) we can afford him especially with current exchange rates in our favour ( also people forget we benefitted with exchsnge rates when bob n lamela signed) , chadlis his best mate, best man at his wedding n gre up together as kids add in the other belgians and it being London we have a chance! With the mix itk on victor maybe he is backup to witsel if we dont get him. Jj said we would be 'covered' which im assuming as back ups to our current plan a.

I don't know if it has been shared but there is a quote from the Zenit president today saying Witsel's buyout is 100m Euros.

Surely we can cross him off then?!

ali z on 'but but jj and others have said we are not in for austin': We haven't been but have today asked to be kept in touch.
Sounds like we have him as a backup in case. I had a feeling all window that he was waiting for one of the big boys to make a move before moving elsewhere. I think it's a signing we can do late on tomorrow.

I'd take Austin over nowt without doubt but it makes you wonder, all the strikers out there but we can't get one over the line, I agree with not buying for the sake of it but that's when you've got options already but having one striker this late in the window is baffling!!

Sterling - 49m, Benteke - 32, De Bruyne - 58m, Martial - 35m (rumored).

Those are the big attacking players sold this window. If we don't get Berahino done, it's because we've simply been priced out of the market on him.

What does the Fox Say?

Grey Fox:
Wanyama is not happening, Adebayor and Lennon almost certainly won't be going to the hammers they want them at cheap rates on loans Levy won't deal, Looks like Villa our only hope of off loading.

Was told that Son won't be last in as I've said before one more bid will go in for Beriniho and CM still on.

Two things to remember one is that signings like Son and any others that we might bring in are not done that quickly without a lot of homework and behind the scenes work been done. Secondly the international break does complicate things sometimes so expect most deals in and outside to be sorted by end of day but possible announcements tomorrow.

I'm sure that's true but that doesn't mean it will take that much to buy him.

Hmm, yeah pitting the ITK's against each other is always a good approach if we want to keep the bits coming. Can someone throw a barrel of salt at the dickhead?

Not directed at you of course Dov - you're awesomeness personified as usual!(y)

Pretty sure it's a signing we will do. And we will be much stronger for it
