Dier like Dyer?
Dier like deer?
Dier like d and air?
Which is it?
I have a question (and apologies if it has already been covered): don't United have an agreement with Sporting Lisbon? Sure that's been mentioned before. If they do have some kind of first refusal, you would think they would have been more than a bit interested - and defence is certainly an area they could do with strengthening in.
Also, I know it's the Fail, but interesting article here:

What I found most interesting was that most times I have seen mention of his loan to Everton, it is brushed over with a comment like he didn't feature, and that is it. Whereas Dier, himself, attributes it as being quite formative in his career.
JJ shot that down pretty quick...not sure who has better info here.According to Greg Stobart, Sherwood was the one who recommended we signed Dier (obviously before he got the sack).

His coaches and team mates at Sporting said Deer. I never heard him say it himself though, so can't be 100% sure.Dier like Dyer?

Yup. He was never there to feature. He was 18. They extended his loan for a reason and SL were quite happy for him to improve his football education in a harsher environment.
I found it amazing how icy cool this lad is. Even when Naughton was sent off, he appeared to just roll his sleeves up and get on with it. Many senior players would whine/panic. The fact that he was still sprinting the length of the pitch so late on, despite being a CB and despite it being his debut in a much faster league is outrageous really, when you put it into context. He clearly benefitted from playing with Kane for England as well ;-)
He plays with a mean/serious look. I like that about him and hopefully that's what will keep him grounded.
