Eric Dier is said to be a target of Roma this summer, a move that would see him link back up with ex-Spurs boss Jose Mourinho. This is according to Romagiallorossa.it, who say that Dier could suffer if the new Tottenham manager prefers to play a back four, with Dier a constant under Antonio Conte, who deployed the England international in the centre of a back three.

Roma; But we can only afford 50p and a packet of Wotsits. Oh. and youl'll have to pay all of his wages for the entirety of his contract.

Probably made up. And it seems a bit weird, given how badly he let Mourinho down and got him sacked- apparently.

When he does leave, though, It will be a relief not to have to wade through pages of how (along with Davies and Sanchez) he represents the root of all evil at the club.

We need to let his contract run out imo. He's far too inconsistent to be at the heart of our defence and doesn't have the athleticism to play either side. Can't be trusted in a back 4 either.

Let’s not all slag Dier off. He needs moving on but he’s been a decent servant to the club and he’s performed well for runs of games during his 8 years or so with us. Never caused trouble, seemingly a big part of the positive atmosphere among the players (during better times), and a popular member of the squad. I hope we do get some money for him and he finds a club that suits him.

Currently 5th level on points with Inter, 1 point off Ac, possible top 4 finish this season. Can’t see them letting him go unless he has a meltdown
Just rumblings I read on the Athletic:

At Roma, Jose Mourinho has a year left on his deal. There have been reports he plans to see next season out, but the messages have been decidedly mixed: “Contracts aren’t the most important thing,” he said at the weekend. The club is on a strict financial fair play diet (like Inter) and need Champions League football in 2023-24 to be able to spend even a fraction of what Mourinho imagines has to be spent.

Whether or not it is time to let him go, i sincerely hope he is shown respect by the fans - he has been at this club a very long time, players like that should leave and be welcome back with open arms not feel like they have been dumped on the rubbish pile by fans wanting replacements.

always carried himself well and is clearly a popular member of the squad.

Most teams target Dier.....ohh as in to buy and not to target to play through?! ...

Time to go and we get someone better in! But we need to clear out a few CBs that are worse than him also.
