Good to see both the Goat & JJ saying similar things about Poch wanting to get overview of squad before making any decisions.
Also think it's a good move to keep Holtby and not surprised that he has engaged Lamela very quickly. I expect him to be a key player for us if he's fit.
As for Lallana, not thank you. Has the hallmarks of being a one-season wonder.
Let someone waste their money.
Hmm Lallana one season wonder? Slowly got better of the last few years, and is now entering peak. As well as he could be a one-season wonder, he could not be... worth the risk imo

Surely can't be all of the players - Daws has got the heart but he simply hasn't got the legs, sharpness or talent anymore, to play for poch.

Good on holtby and excited that there's still a chance for lallana.

Lamela...ah, you already know.

Maybe the club want to sell Dawson because this will be probably the last summer that we can get a good fee for him. Hes 31 now, the club will not want to keep him until 33-34+ and see him retire or get a smaller fee in the future.

He's English yes, but I don't think he'd count as HG as he's spent his development years at Sporting Lisbon

We do need to stock up on some young HG talent though, as most of those who currently make up that quota in our squad have question marks next to their names.

Ah, right! So used to British players just being homegrowns due to not usually training abroad I didn't even think twice about it.

I agree with you on the HG count though, and especially considering many of our most likely to depart this summer IMO are homegrowns (Daws, Naughton, Siggy, Lennon).

Personally would rather spend 17 mil on Depay or Kono and use the left over 10+ mil on other parts of the squad. Southampton have already said they want 30 mil for Lallana and even if we manage to get a couple of mil off we will still be looking at 27 mil. For me, 27 mil is the sort of money you spend on ether a world class talent or one who is young enough to become world class and I don't believe Lallana is at that level. And the knowledge that some one like Griezmann is available for 24mil just puts Lallana's fee into perspective. I know he is probably out of our league but we are not Chelsea or City and I don't think spending that sort of cash is really the best move for our club, not unless the player in question is guarantied to become a world class talent.

I can't deny that I think Lallana is a crackin player and he should've started every game for England. He showed in the Costa Rica game that he is such a willing running from midfield and that can only be a good thing.

Clearly the price seems far from ideal and I can't see Levy going for it. Depay makes far more sense due to age and cost but I certainly wouldn't be disappointed if we managed to do a deal for Adam.

As long as he's not on the pitch for us anymore I don't care what their reasoning is.:D

I agree, but in this occasion it's possible that Poch may feel he could do this with Lamela. If he could manage to convince Levy to pay that much for a player, he'd have to have a damn good reason. So were it to happen, and especially since he's a former player, I think we'd have to trust him.

I'd love to have Lallana at the club. Leave worrying about the cost to Levy, we all know English players always have an inflated transfer fee and that they're also very marketable. Pochettino knows him well and has shown he can get the best out of him so if he feels he needs him then I've no problem with us paying £30mill for him.

Not 100% , but i think he has only a year left on his contract

Dawson will dig his heels in like he always does. He'll think he can prove the new manager wrong like he has with other ones in the past.

He'll still be here September 1st. It's admirable, but for those of us who want him gone, soooooo frustrating

Would love to have Lallana. He was less than impressive at the world cup, but had a good season overall. Plus, I think the 'one-season-wonder' tag is not such a danger when the guy wanting to buy his is his former manager, who is not just judging him on 90 mins each week, but rather day-to-day. Plus, would love to keep at least a bit of an English spine to the team.

Tell that to Moyes and Fellaini. It's an advantage for a new player to come to a club with a manager they already know, but let's not get mixed up here. Southampton were allowed a lot more space to attack other teams and play their football, but except for under Tim (when people thought we were there for the taking), when do teams ever really come and attack us at WHL and give us space? It's the same reason I don't want Lukaku, he is not the right striker to break down a parked bus, he'll come up against different styles of play to when he was at Everton or West Brom, and I think Mourinho's willingness to get rid shows he doesn't think he's capable of playing against packed defences. Not saying Lallana isn't either, but moving from Southampton to Tottenham would still mean a lot of adaptation, despite us having his old manager.

I'd be very happy to bring Lallana to the club as long as it doesn't hinder the more important business that needs to be done. Would be the perfect icing on the cake after bringing in a couple of defenders

Well arguably our biggest weakness last season was lack of sufficient character in the team, when the going got tough most bottled it.

Obviously at this stage it's only speculation, but with Napoli chasing Sandro, Hull chasing Daws and still big question marks over Eunice's ability to reach his pre injury form and that he might be sold then I hope Poch is aware of a the need to increase the depth of players with character, drive, desire and leadership, rather than reduce it

We need players in key positions, some as regular starters, some as options, to give the team better balance, but it's not enough to just concentrate on ability to play a given role, somewhere amongst the additions we are going to need a few players with quite a bit of value added in the character department otherwise it will be another season of getting trounced by some of the stronger teams if we are not careful

We did have ITK about him assessing our players "hearts" before anything happens in or out and that probably means their attitude and drive. I really doubt he wouldn't have at least a clue about some of our players already so I really hope that is just a worst case scenario. Hopefully he doesn't let all of them go without bringing in some new characters with some charisma and good attitude.
