Not bothered by the Lloris house for sale bit. Players look for new houses all the time upon signing a new contract, as is alleged to have been offered and likely to occur. Also, keep in mind we brought him in technically midseason. He probably bought something rather "rudimentary" by his salary's standards and a bit "spur of the moment" considering the timing. May be just as plain and simple as finding a more spacious, more suitable house for his family now that he's set to likely sign a new deal.

Dawson will dig his heels in like he always does. He'll think he can prove the new manager wrong like he has with other ones in the past.

He'll still be here September 1st. It's admirable, but for those of us who want him gone, soooooo frustrating

It's the way he's always run.......

I think the timing of Poch's hiring has been unfortunate as far as the transfer market goes. This year we have seen many players (in positions/type of players we need) available for very reasonable fees (Garay 12m, Bangera 4m, Badelj 5m, Batchuyai 5.5m, Drmic 3.5m, etc), available on free transfers (Cambiasso, Murru, Natkho, Xavi, etc) and also players with decent release clauses (Konoplyanka 12m, etc) but Poch needs to asses the squad first and we also have a World Cup on so there will be a delay in assessing some key positions.

I don't think he needs to assess the squad to know that we are crying out for a LB. He may want to assess midfield options and even strikers, but he will already know the current wholes in the squad that need to be addressed.

Levy balks at asking price, player hands in trans req, player goes on strike, Levy plays hard ball, deal goes to deadline day, player stays at club and says sorry to fans, manager dosnt get the one player he really wants, gets three he hasnt asked for .. typical Levy .. move along, nothing new here.
So we should just pay the asking price, even if the player's not worth that much? Levy's job is to get as much as possible out of the resources he has at hand, and seeing as those resources are rather limited, I don't think he should overpay for a player like Lovren.

Go support the Chavs or City then.

I think he will know we will need a LB for at the very least back up, as we are short in numbers of players who play there as a primary position and after speaking to the medical team (re Kaboul) he may know we need a CB, especially with Dawson's reputation in playing a high line and these are 2 positions that any youngsters we have that might be able to step up are a long way off. Apart from that, I imagine he would want to have a good look at the players (and youth) to see what they can do.

I know it upsets some people, but I'll repeat it again out of devilry; 13 of our 14 clean sheets last season came when Dawson was playing.

10 clean sheets came when Vertonghen was playing. If those 10 (or a majority of them) were when he and Dawson were our CB pairing, is there a problem when both are fit, and Jan doesn't have to play LB?

And to repeat a point I brought up yesterday; of the 51 goals we conceded in the league last season, 30 came in just seven games, five of them capitulations against Sky Five sides when it wasn't the system that was at fault but individual errors followed by a pathetic collapse. One can hardly excuse Dawson for several WTF? balls, but he was scarcely alone.

I agree with you to an extent, but would you be happy with Dawson be a 1st team regular? Personally, I'm happy with Dawson as back up, but want a better 1st choice CB.
