Someone must be in the back four, surely? If this amount of injuries doesn't make it necessary, then I have no idea what does. I'd rather have players in their natural positions than Sandro at CB or Townsend RB or something else like that.

I hope Veljkovic is necessary. Just not sure i want to see Sandro as a CB.
We wont have anyone in CM able to break up play and we lose Sandro's energy closing down everything. It would be a risk at the back, but when you need to score 3 to go through its a risk that you can take.

He's putting Sandro to centre back, well that was the general consensus I have seen from journalists. I posted a team on the previous page what I think it might be ^^^

Suggests to me he doesn't want to, especially as Fryers will have to play as one of the centre backs. I think after he has said this Sandro will play in defence and Bentaleb/Eriksen in midfield. Further forward we actually have more options, just defensively we will be weak.

I read the quote. I still took it to mean one youngster may start. I would've thought (or at least picked myself) - Naughton, Velkjovic, Fryers, Rose. Have Velks and Fryers played CB together in the u21s? Does anybody know that? If they have, then at least they have some experience together.

It would be stupid to play Sandro at centre back if we've got a centre back on the bench, even if it is a youngster.

Id rather have velikovic as a cb in there alongside fryers, with Sandro and Bentelab in front. Id say that's stronger as a four, than a 3 of Sandro Fryers with Bentelab in front

People should play in their right positions. If we put Sandro into defence we are weakening both defence and midfield.

That's a pretty negative way to look at it and a very negative thing to say. This is a game where the pressure is off and no-one is really expecting anything. Any youngsters could make heroes of themselves and if they f*ck up we're expecting to go out anyway. By saying this, it means we'll have players shoehorned into positions (eg Sandro at CB) they're unfamiliar and uncomfortable with and it's also likely to have a negative effect on any youngsters who may have to play.

How the hell does playing youngsters ruin them if we lose? We have already lost given the score and the insane backline absentees. I would play the U21's with a sprinkle of first teamers like Soldado and Chadli and just tell them to enjoy it. Its great experience. Say the pressure is off, but you will look at individual performances as proof of being ready for some more first team duties.
If the score were 1-1 or we even had a 1-0 lead I would totally agree, the chance of going out and the pressure as a result would be huge, but we need 3 away goals without conceding more than 1.
