While I do think we need a creative player like Lamela or Willian I do also think people underestimate the creatvity of Dembele and Paulinho in the middle. Not to mention Holtby and Carroll. They may not be of the same creative level of a Luca Modric but I do think they will provide plenty of chances for Soldado.

I think having an intelligent striker in Soldado will make all the difference. One of the reasons Bale had to do it himself last season was purely based on the god awful season Adebayor had and terrible 2nd half of a season Defoe had. Neither were players who actually gave our midfield good options.

Lets not forget how uncreative our midfield was with Berbatov up top but he made us look great at times. Our midfield is so much stronger now and we have that striker to provide for as well. We may not play as many intricate passes but I can see a more direct approach (particularly with through balls and crosses) which will be just as effective.

Creativity comes in different forms. It doesn't always have to be sexy looking like Barca. It all comes down to how many chances will we create and I think we already have the players to give us many chances.

Yep, there's also Capoue who, according to an article that was placed elsewhere on this site, is VERY good at finding a 'through ball' etc. In fact, according to that article, he could be the "perfect foil for Soldado".. See for yourself, mate - http://www.spurscommunity.co.uk/ind...ue-–-perfect-foil-for-roberto-soldado.100287/

Read it on the COYS Facebook page. It said "Carlo Ancelotti has said he believes Real Madrid don't need to make any further additions, he also confirmed that Fabio Coentrao has handed in a transfer request -SR"

I come in here looking for ITK discussions and have to read discussions about players we've already signed? Why can't people respect the mods and take such talk to the relevant player thread in Spurs Chat. So selfish and disresectful when people donate blah blah blah yadayadayada.

Hypocritical much Coopsy?

AVB isn't stupid, he will recognise the lack of creativity in our squad, especially if Bale goes.
The fact that the first player on his wanted list and the one he apparently wanted most was Moutinho, says he knows what we need.

Hopefully just being more efficient in our passing/control and movement will see us through the first couple of games.

And by then things should be clearer on who we are getting (hopefully someone special) and who they are replacing (hopefully no one special...;))

Although they have Ashley Cole, I still have a horrible little feeling that Chelsea might snatch Coentrao since his price is pretty low. Probably illogical, but there you go.....

Yes it is, especially for the likes of Carroll, Townsend and Rose. WTF have we been wasting their time for?

So Spurs are the only side with fringe players?

I'd have though that Townsend and Rose (who was on loan last season) would by now have some small, lingering thought that perhaps they just ain't fucking good enough?

Then again they are footballers i guess.

If we have 100m to spend this window and yet end up with Townsend and rose in the first team we have fucked up

When trying to assess the quality of our first team, I always look at our (likely) first eleven and think which of those players wouldn't look out of place playing for Man Ure, Citeh and Chel$ea.

Townsend and Rose for some unknown reason never seem to feature in my thoughts on that one.

Carlo Ancelotti.

Pretty good source, I reckon. ;)

I believe it's the same interview where he said he was happy with his squad and didn't need any additions. Though the one thing that I have seen left out is that he did leave himself a little wiggle room in that if it was possible to get a special player then you need to do that because a special player can always make the team better. Something along those lines, not the exact quote but not as firm a quote as many would wish.

If they aren't good enough then fuck them off instead of telling them fairy tales. If we don't mind kicking out players when we feel like it, i.e Dempsey, we can hardly complain when Modric or some welsh dude decide they want to leave.

Caulker?

The homegrown quota thing, I mean we have to keep homegrown players happy to fill that quota.

Caulker is no more a top four team centre half than i am. It's unfortunate but true. I would forever take AVB's judgement on the Caulker sale, and for the money offered it was a no brainer really.

We can fill our homegrown quota with or without the likes of Rose, Caulker or any other mid-table footballer that we have on our books.
