We're obviously spending the Bale money, whether he leaves this season or next. Levy knows what will happen if he enters the market after selling a player for a world record fee.

*sniggers*

Most people treat Huddlestone as an escape goat.

*double sniggers*

Quite right, a number of i's and e's = snigger. Engage brain before hand in the future HS!

This is exactly what I'm thinking. For all the signings we make this window, we'll recoup when Bale goes. I just hope we keep him now, sign players like Lamela and have a stonking season. With that kind of team anything is possible.

So we're going to spend £25m on someone to be an understudy for a year. Don't believe it. If Lamela signs, Bale's gone.

We recoup the Bale money either this year or next so it doesn't matter when we spend it. Might as well blow it now and try to win the league when we still have Bale.

If this does happen I wonder if David James will consider revising his prediction that we will finish 8th this season?

Since my post was lost in tail-end of last transfer thread, I just thought I will re-post since people are still discussing finances with regards to Bale's status.

Have not post often in this thread but regarding above, surely FFP involves all Clubs. If so and this is the last season to splash the cash for any club then why should we be expecting RM or any other club to smash the world record for Bale next season. This could be the last season where we get astronomical bids for him and that may be the only reason we have stayed quiet to see how crazy the bidding may go for him.

Either way, we turn out winners as if we get a crazy bid, it can allow us to build a dream team and if not, we will still have Bale next season. Great position to be in. Cheers and looking forward to the end of transfer window and the start to a terrific season.

Also, from what I understand of FFP, any future cash injection can definitely still be done to boost a Club's financial position but it can no longer take immediate impact as it needs to be registered for the financial year results and that will have to be delayed to Fifa/ Uefa's assessment based on the year's financial results. For me, this means that this season is the last where any immediate cash injection can have immediate impact on transfers and squad status which implies that any Club missing out this year will only be able to have significant adjustments 2 seasons or more later. If I was Joe or Daniel then I will see this as a great opportunity to boost the squad with injection of cash to raise the status of our Club to be closer to our competitors as once FFP is in place, the positions will be unlikely to change in the short to mid term as larger spending will be curtailed for a period of time. Therefore, the cash injection by Joe makes total sense and is entirely strategic from their part regardless of Bale's situation and this makes me certain that we will continue to make a statement this window even if Bale stays.

I know this deviates from ITK but the rationale substantiates a larger portion of the ITK that we have seen and I find comfort that we have strategic thinkers at the top rather than rich sugar daddies who spends on whim. We have had constant growth since ENIC took over and with such thinkers in place, I am confident that it will continue. COYS!
(Sorry for the length of post but the last part just popped into mind) :)

He seriously thought we'd end 8th?

Even without Bale we're still good enough for a top 6 finish, IMO. We've still got one of the best starting 11s in the league without the star man.

Lamela also does the heart sign celebration. This IS a conspiracy.

There are pics, not that i'll post them here... maybe in the player thread though!

You really can't rule anything out with us this transfer window.

I thought Soldado on his own would have been fantasy for us so who knows, maybe Lamela is a viable target after all although keeping Bale would be a huge bucket load of icing on top of the proverbial cake!

I like the way he said "I'm predicting this as what we know now, we don't know if Bale is staying or going" then he predicted on the assumption Bale won't be here; Personally I'd have thought we know he's a Spurs player:rolleyes:
I think he just wanted to put Liverpool in the top four, like all the others on the panel come to think of it.:)
Ok it looks like three out today perhaps we'll get another three in before I go on me Holiday on Saturday.

love the Eriksen & Lamela stuff but we still need a commanding CB people - as a priority

We have 3 commanding CBs in Dawson, Kaboul and Vertonghen. Also we have some talented youngsters and both Sandro (and Capoue if he signs) can play there.

The priorities are a LB who can defend and Lamela (he is a priority as this could be the last chance we have to sign him).
