Funny thing is that in the same article the DM quote that Newcastle had been put off by the 10 million asking price for Defoe. Good to see that Danny Boy wants his pound of flesh. No wonder the deadwood usually see their contracts out as Spurs players.

Funny thing is JD is easily worth £10m to a club in the lower reaches of the prem as he will get enough goals to keep them up.
I personally hope he stays and gets us a few goals like v ManC

I don't think we have a chance if Arsenal have a bid accepted. I feel we have the edge over Liverpool though.

Yep. I think we would be ahead of Liverpool for sure despite their billing as a big Club.

Arsenal on the other hand, no. If they really want him surely he'll choose them. CL, bigger wages.

The only hope is our contingent of Brazilians and our manager who speaks the language.

Ade is the man to play up top. He will return to form if he gets a full pre-season and no injuries. What we need is the magic of Baldini. He needs to find us the next Higuain or the next Benteke. Lets spend approx 5-8M on that player who is 22 or under and can push Ade. The year we made Champs League Pav came in with some big goals. That's what we need. Someone who can be the future but also weigh in with 10 goals this year. The new kid from Santos could be an option or someone in Belgium or Holland. Come on you Baldini. To me the key but is someone who can up the tempo and unlock a defence when teams sit back. Would take Remy as a squad player to rotate with Lennon but I think Townsend will step up. COYS

Rebic.

Defoe is worth 8-10 mil IMO as he is a proven goal scorer in the epl and at international level. The reason villa was only sold for 4 mil was down to Barcelona letting him leave for a lesser fee as a gesture to him. 8.8 mil was the fee we were believed to be negotiating.

Also as laudrup said all English players are overpriced (can't remover the last English player transfer that I didn't think was vastly overpriced) and that is why he buys Spanish as you get a better player for less money. Just look at their signings this year. (why aren't we looking in Spain where the talent pool is massive!?)

Just look at the transfer of michu. 2 mil I believe. Who had just been the top scoring midfielder in arguably the best league in the world. Compare this to benteke who has had 1 season in a top league and his transfer value is 25 mil. Ridiculous. Feel it's not only English players that are over valued but also anyone that plays and does well in England. Michu would now fetch well over 10 nil despite being a year older and his best year still being the one in Spain. This is why we need to look abroad for 'unknown' (to the average joe obviously)

Carrying on on Michu. Was rumoured that we weren't willing to take a risk on him! Really 2 million after out scoring all the great midfielders in spain! Ridiculous decision. Heads need to fly for that one as they do on the Suarez decision.

Adebayor is in no way the answer for us! Was appealing last year. Missed at least 5 open goals (or practically open) which IMO cannot be blamed on lack of effort. It's an open goal. I'd give him one, but 5! FFs put it in the net! And also the seaso before he did ok but not the 20 goal striker we need, and can you see any top 4 teams or top CL teams with adebayor as their main man. No. That's why we can't rely on him and need him out. can't understand people's support of him in all fairness. Was in the pocket of a Coventry curry defender for 90 minutes. Is that the player we need to get top 4!? Also it's a common misconception he was awesome for the last couple of games! Scored a screamer yes but what else did he offer other than the flick to set up a goal which was good yes but how many times does he give the ball away doing this? And yes he scored a couple more goals (tap ins!) and what else did he offer to the team in these games!? Nothing but laziness and planting himself (as our lone striker!) out on the touch line! As someone said on another day, for a big man he seems so weak and doesnt put himself about in the box to cause problems.

Sorry for being off topic but had to get it off my chest after all the talk on here

Burt article:

Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool have all inquired about the £20 million-rated Brazilian forward Bernard.
The Premier League trio face competition from Porto and Shakhtar Donestk for the 20-year-old who is set to leave his present club, Atletico Mineiro, after the Copa Libertadores final second leg on July 24.
That match is a trigger date for negotiations to begin in earnest to sign Bernard, who broke into the senior Brazil national team last season and is part of Luiz Felipe Scolari’s plans for the World Cup finals next summer.
Bernard has been admired by Spurs head coach Andre Villas-Boas for some time, indeed he urged the club to make a bid last summer, but they face stiff competition from a number of other leading clubs throughout Europe.
Bernard is a quick wide player, who can also come inside, primarily from the left, and although there have been some concerns about his size – he is just 5ft  5in – he has developed into an exciting, goal-scoring attacker. Even so demanding a fee of £20 million would appear to be high for a player who may take some time to adjust to the pace and power of the Premier League.
Nevertheless Arsenal and Liverpool have also now joined the bidding with Bernard having already hinted that he is ready to leave after the return leg against Paraguay’s Olimpia next Wednesday.
Spurs are also considering cheaper options for the role – including FC   Twente’s Nacer Chadli, who is in the final year of his contract and would cost significantly less than Bernard. So far Spurs have not made a bid for the 23-year-old Belgium international winger who is also wanted by Shakhtar.
Spurs remain in the market for a top-class striker, with Emmanuel Adebayor up for sale, but suffered a blow with Christian Benteke withdrawing his transfer request and signing a new deal at Aston Villa. Spurs had bid £18   million for Benteke and were considering an improved bid later in the window. However they were unlikely to meet Villa’s expected asking price of £25  million.

I can concur with nearly all of the Yidio ITK very good.

However we were talking about a deal for Benteke but 'the deal in principle' was grammar used to me that was obviously just a bit of excitement or hearsay from within.
Now i have the dilemma that this is an ITK thread so i pass on all my info for your entertainment but when something goes amiss you feel like you are just justifying your reputation all the time as to whether you are genuine FFS!
We just pass on info all the time for your ITK pleasure.
I wasnt always ITK so i know what you are like but truckloads and i mean truckloads of salt are needed as things change so much and there is so much bullshit out there in football world like you have never seen before!
So after saying all of that I have chosen SC as the place of my ITK due to the humour and dildo action of A & C so can you please donate to Rob to keep it going as it is great fun in here :)

JJ has said it and all must follow: donate to SC!

On a sidenote, an unnamed and unverifiable Twitter feed has suggested that a meltdown is imminent for Spurs - give money to SC or miss out!

The pledge thread is open - JJ, LLM, etc, put yer money where your index fingers (mouths) is! Others, now is the time to punt on players you want to see.

edit: this post is brought to you by copious amounts of alcohol and autocorrect!

So if Yido info is near spot on, the ITK about us spending this season was just a facade? That's the most disappointing news tbh.

Not sure how with that ambition we are going to keep Bale and AVB.
