Still think Steven Fletcher could do a job for us and wouldn't cost the Earth.
Yep. Good finisher and makes great runs. He'll never create like Ade or be as good as running the channels but we don't need that. We need finishers and someone with a bit of presence.

Seriously??? The 2nd highest tackling midfielder in the PL last season.....

I think Dembele is a very good player, however I agree with you that he is nowhere near Modric`s level....I just don`t think he can run a game from midfield....
Indeed. Said exactly that myself in another thread. Still, he'd be a welcome addition to the squad and who knows, he might kick on another gear yet. Hardly been played in a deeper role for much of his career. Only started last season i think and he adapted very well to it.

He's not on Modric's level but regarding the team it could be a better balance, particularly away from home and lets be honest, for as good as Modric was, I don't remember him running that many games away from home.

We can all rest easy on the notion of playing 442 away from home now on! ;)

If Robin van Rapist leaves, Arsenal are arguably, weaker. Giroud is not the same class and is just another Chamakh, Podolski is overhyped as hell and Cazorla, meh. We'll be OK, were a better team than Liverpool, who may start strong (They wont) but will fade later on. Top 4 is nailed on.
I expect to see this on the spurs meltdown twitter by morning.

According to whoscored.com (which if you're not aware of it is a brilliant website with CM-esque stats for loads of leagues), Dembele was the 20th best ranked player in the league last year.

Look at this and you might be happy if we sign him:

http://www.whoscored.com/Players/12187

They had Modric as the 3rd most effective player in the league and only Y. Toure and Carrick between him and Dembele in that kind of position.

Also FWIW, Sigurdsson's half season ranked him as high as Modric.

Don't know if it has been mentioned but the marca have linked Real to Dembele as an alternative to Modric. Can't help but think that this is actually a ploy to get us to lower our price on Modric though.

On the JJ stuff I don't believe it has anything to do with ade. I mean even the RVP stuff is already in the public realm, to the extent that Manchini has spoke in public about wanting RVP. It is more likely to do with the Modric saga, so possibly a madrid player or even a big money striker which is reliant on such a deal. I think Hulk could be a decent outside bet.

The Fulham player i'd like to see us go for is Dempsey. Works hard, scores and creates goals, and can play either as a striker or in midfield. Also it would seriously piss off Liverpool. It would be so funny if we bought Gylfi, Butland and Dempsey and they spent £15M on Joe Allen.

But isn't that the point though - Huddlestone won't start week in week out and, well you all probably know my feelings on the subject so won't divulge again in this thread but I do think it will benefit his career by moving to a team like Fulham and trying to establish himself as the main man in the centre of midfield.

Our system relies on players being able to keep the ball, be comfortable in the oppositions half and we don't have too many of those IMO.

Parker covers Sandro.
Huddlestone covers Dembele, Parker/Sandro, VDV/Sig.

Can you suggest I have "relations" with Kate Beckinsale? I'm patient. I can wait for it.
Get your grubby Yankee hands off our delicate English rose. It's bad enough she's gone all Republican on us and shacked up with one of you colonials.

Anyways. £15mish on Dembele or £15mish on Joe Allen and I'd go with Dembele.

I hate Liverpool as much as anybody and even I don't want to base our transfer policy on annoying them like Chelsea does to us. I want us to find the right players for our system and that includes players that can hold on to the ball and pass. Gylfi and Dembele do that.

Awesome reference.

And to be fair Modric is 3rd. But guess who had the same rating but didn't make the final cut because he only played 2nd half? Siggi. Both are 7.58

Dembele would be a great signing. Obviously he wont give us what Modric does but that's why he'll cost less the half of what Modric is valued at. It would leave us with plenty of money for a quality striker or 2. Overall we would be stronger.

Good news from JJ, hopefully a striker to come in before the Newcastle game. Maybe strikers are like London buses and 2 will come along at the same time. Here's me dreaming anyway.

It's great. I'd do all my transfer business based on it ;)
Joe Allen shows up fairly well too.
Useful resource if, like me, you've a job, a family, other interests and can't just watch football 24/7!

It can be painful too. Two years ago Sahin was 7.73 and last year Corzola was 7.6 :(
