Those are still very, very tough games with the first 3 fighting for their lives.

Glass half empty? :p
I don't think the problem will be the motivation of our opponents, but our own self destructing way of not being up for the task when a match will really heavily influence our final league positon.

We've failed to beat 3 of them at different points this season. Beating Villa only after they went down to 10 men with a deflected.free kick. What is annoying is people suggesting the reaction to yesterday is a knee jerk, rather than a consistent level of underpeformance and luck coming to a head in a result that was coming from a long way away.

If Swansea can hold out tonight and then Liverpool beat Utd next game, we can be back to 3 points behind 4th place with a win. Big loss yesterday, and disappointed with the performance more than anything, but it is far from over.

yes, we really ought to rely on our own team to do the shit for a change, dunno how many seasons now weve sat with a predictoer making everyone else drop points against shit teams when we do it any way :D

It's because the reaction is just that, kneejerk. We have played well in the majority of games since early December. If people think we've been underperforming I really don't know what their expectations are!

Very similar to the "Is MoPo f***** up " thread where we have the polar opposites of Spurs fans being displayed.

Plenty people saying it was a matter of time, our cup run was easy blah de blah.

Well our cup run included a 4-0 demolition of an in-form Newcastle. Our league form since Stoke has seen us only lose to Chelsea, Liverpool and United all away (not exactly places we have a great record) and Palace, new manager bounce and all that.

Yes performances may not be scintillating every week, but we were all prepared for a season of transition. But quite frankly this season has far more highs than the whole of last season already.

People moan about scrappy last minute wins, but that shows a change of spirit to me, an attitude so often missing in Spurs teams of late. A fight we often seen in other teams, and craved to see in ours. Yes there's the disappointment of yesterday, but sometimes you just have them, a bad day at the office. Was it any worse than city's bad day at Burnley!

Are we heading in the right direction? I think so....and we should all feel more hopeful for the future than we did this time last season.

I've never really understood this mentality. They're at the bottom because they are (some of) the worst teams, therefore we should beat them. Just because they are 'fighting for their lives' doesn't make them any better. We should still beat them.

Bearing that in mind, I expect us to take 5 points from those fixtures #Spursy

Couldn't agree more. Ok, we were crushed at Old Trafford yesterday but this season we have definitely moved forward.

Haha, fair point. But taking Spurs out of the equation, this logic still makes no sense. Teams at the bottom are at the bottom because they are the worst teams. Being at the bottom towards the end of the season doesn't somehow make them all-of-a-sudden more dangerous. If I had the motivation to do the necessary research, I'm fairly stats would show that shit teams don't get better after the 3/4 mark just because they're 'fighting for their lives'.

It absolutely does.
