Well, firstly I was of that exact thinking in the past and believed that people were wrong to suggest that.

But that was because you could see a core stability and players who had further to improve. It was clear we were going to get better and there was no guarantees for the others as they were generally rebuilding/in transition.

Now, we are falling under that category because we have some players who are apathetic (Kane) with the whole situation, we have players who need shifting on and we need to establish a new core. It takes time to build that core. Just look at our midfield!! It has no substance to it!

How can you expect to improve over the course of a summer? We may improve but it'll take time. But you look at the others and they have better energy and stability.

All fair points mate and I agree to some extent. I'm just a hopeless optimist.

Need a progressive DOF with a plan & vision

Need a clearout like Fun time Frankie oversaw

Need a top bloke like BMJ to heal some wounds and gel everything together again

Unfortunately I cannot see this happening. Too many ‘assets' on the books that Levy will want far too much money for!

Agree with everything except your last sentence. I believe we'd very happily sell a high number of our players right now. But given their wages and low performance level finding buyers will be the challenge.

The disconnect from the stands to the pitch today was striking, worrying times. Get a few spurs youngster in who want to play for the badge and give fans something to be excited about.

They need to quick get hold of a vision, then the right people to execute it. They need a DOF (someone like a Ragnick) to provide that vision because Levy can’t do it.

Once those two hires are in place they need Joe Lewis to take the risk and front load some of the revenues the stadium will bring in over the next few years so that we can keep core players and rebuild the team NOW (ie spend the money).

Or we will keep slipping down and pay even more for it in the long term.

Be nice to think DL is still at the ground in absolute crisis talks right now, wouldn't it?

I’m actually pretty worried, this will probably get worse before it gets better

Few teams below us will improve, bottom half next year wouldnt be a shock

I am very worried as well. I think if we operate as we have in the past, from a place of financial security first that drives our business operations, then the rebuild will be long and painful. If we take a risk, financially, and spend big and strive to recoup any financial outlay from European qualification next season, we might arrest things getting worse.

Regardless, I am very much feeling doom and gloom at the moment...

Best chance for a trophy

As soon as we stop bleeting on about trophies and worry more about having a team that plays a particular way, full of blood and commitment, we might get somewhere.

It's the Trophy 'expectation' that killing our progress.

If the Newcastle takeover happens probably sink even lower. Might be desperate for the ECL in a few years.

I started this thread after the pathetic performance in the League Cup final because I was so disillusioned with the club and with the players.
Less than one month on and unbelievably it's worse now.
Our players are either mid table quality in the main, couldn't care less or both and I'm leaning towards both.
Last night was a must win game for Europa League against a team that has nothing to play for and it looked like a pre season friendly we were that poor / unmotivated.
Most of the players couldn't even be bothered doing a lap of honour, wtf is that?!?
I am not blaming this mess on Mason but yesterday was unforgivable that he didn't make a substitution until the 72th minute despite the fact he was watching probably our worst performance of the season.
Our fans were that annoyed that the actually booed the team off at half time and full time which shows exactly how they are feeling about everything. Most had waited a year to see the team play and were so let down they actually booed.
The fans were put right up top in the stadium so the sponsors banners could be visible on TV instead of the fans.
Oh yea and the fans were charged 60 for the privilege which is more than double what most other clubs were charging.

I thought things were bad previously but we are now absolutely toxic with our home grown world class striker wanting out and who could blame him.

I don't even know what else to say....my club is broken.

Honestly, this club need gutted out from the top to the bottom.
This has been a slow regression from the point that Sissoko was signed, and accelerated when Levy thought a Manager was the issue.
The failing of his leadership was summed up by the resigning of Bale, this short termism is the issue.
When we look at Leicester, they are everything we used to be, long term acquisitions of players, with potential.
Like today they are linked with a player that we had been for a few seasons.
This has been balls for quite some time.

Winning trophies and playing the Tottenham way is our raison d’etre.
